To my husband Rory: You are my everything, the gift I always wanted but didn’t know existed. You have set me free with your love, your friendship, and your support. Thank you for reminding me of who I am. Til the wheels fall off baby....you and me, jumping planets.
To my mother Annette: Thank you for always allowing me to be me and loving me through the good, the bad, and the craziness. You’re an incredible woman with strength and courage who has served as a launching pad for me in my life. It’s been an interesting ride and I wouldn’t change a thing. You did a great job, I love you.
To my kids: Tyler, Ashlyn, and Payton...you all taught me more than I could ever have taught you. You are amazing people and I couldn’t be more proud. I love you all more than you know.

Foreword
I would say that I’m pretty average. My parents divorced when I was six years old. I had a stepdad for a short period of time, a kind but crazy and immature boyfriend after that, and finally in my late teens a very stable, honorable, and kind man as a father figure. My mother is short, petite and though in her seventies now, she is a beautiful woman. During my upbringing she was very unconventional at times and had her own demons to deal with while trying to raise and support five kids. My father was a truck driver, and though I know now that he loved me, I didn’t see or spend much time with him throughout my life. We moved around a lot and I attended many different schools. I graduated high school but did not attend college.
I started having kids by the time I was twenty, and lived through two previous marriages that were both educational but quite unhealthy. I’ve jumped from job to job and state to state, trying to find my place in this world.
As I got into my thirties I began to really get interested in alternative medicine and different ways of naturally healing the body as well as the mind. I read many books on the subject and eventually, at the age of thirty-seven, I enrolled in a course through The College of Natural Medicine to become a certified Holistic Health Practitioner. I’ve read and studied quite a bit from Tony Robbins to Shirley MacLaine and many others in between. Some of the information was very concrete and some a little fluffy. I wanted to find something somewhere in the middle for you. Something somewhat tangible but with just the right amount of magic.
I hope you enjoy and immerse yourself in the following pages. Be open and pay attention to what rings true for you and throw out anything that doesn’t. Always remember, the quality of your life is totally and completely up to you. Change and growth are only as difficult as you decide they’re going to be. Believe in possibilities and throw out limitations...what have you got to lose??
Chapter 1: Understanding
What if everything we’ve been taught about how life works is wrong? Could we handle that? Would it be a relief because somewhere deep inside we always knew things didn’t feel right? Would we look at our parents, teachers, and communities differently if we understood that all their teachings were based on false beliefs? Studying, growing, and coming to understand the following has completely changed the way I view the world as well as everything in it.
You’re really gonna love this. We have become a society that complicates the hell out of everything, and after you read through these pages, I hope you are able to come to an understanding of just how simple it is to rid yourself of the pain and disappointment in your life. Through some very easy steps and changes you’ll be amazed how much better you can feel.
Sometimes we don’t even know just how miserable we are until we actually start to feel better. You have no reference point for complete and utter joy, so you don’t even realize it’s possible. Some of us think that just because we’re not suffering
that life is pretty decent. Others are walking around with a gnawing feeling that there has to be more than this.
Before I go much further, let me tell you that I have always been a pretty happy person. I’ve certainly had some short bouts of anxiety and depression, but for the most part finding the good in any situation has always come pretty easily for me. I haven’t always understood universal spiritual law but I did know that feeling good felt better than feeling bad. It felt more natural to be happy and there was certainly an ease that came with it.
I find it interesting how different people can be. Some people are so afraid of their emotions that they’ll do anything not to feel. They will numb their minds and punish their bodies with alcohol and drugs.
