What Motivated Me

To Write This Book…

Have you ever wondered why things don’t work out the way you would like? Or, have you ever wondered why becoming successful seems easier for some more than others? Why do some people seem to be lucky while a great majority have little or no luck at all?

What makes the difference? What makes life so fulfilling for some and not for others? What is the key to our success? Is our success some kind of a twist of fate, where our entire life is charted for us, or do we have free will? Does the answer lie in the stars, or is it to be found in using tested and proven techniques that will ultimately lead to success?

Inequality in Birth and Life

As I was growing up, I could not help but notice the socio-economic inequality that I saw throughout the world. I remember going to school with many other students whose parents could not afford many of the luxuries that others took for granted.

I saw the rich, and I saw the poor and the difference was significant and all too apparent. In many situations, I saw families who enjoyed generations of wealth and success, while other families could not afford the bare necessities of daily life. They could barely afford food for themselves and their families. These families could not provide their children with the benefit of a college or university education, and this further kept them in a cycle of lack.

In school I learnt about, and on television I saw third-world countries where there are people whose lives consist of abject poverty, disease, wars, and natural disasters. In addition, these people had no control over the weather or climatic conditions in the environment they lived in and these caused further hardships.

These observations troubled me deeply that these people had to endure such terrible suffering through no fault of their own but as a seemingly unavoidable consequence of the place and conditions under which they were born. Like many others, I came to question Why it is that every human being is not given an equal chance in life?

In addition, I could not ignore the disequilibrium in life as a result of inequalities in birth and place. I came to realize that the place of birth for many could either create or destroy their chances of success. Let’s face it, as we look around the world, there are people who are born into societies where there is so much poverty and lack that there is little choice when it comes to survival.

On the other hand, there are countries where people are born into abundance. These people are provided with far more than the basic necessities of life and have free reign in exercising their God-given free will! Yet, under adverse conditions and humble upbringings, and with no generational history, some people living under both conditions grew to achieve great successes in life.

I saw wealthy nations where there was abundance all around and people had a choice and the financial means to provide the best for themselves and their families.

When I noticed this disequilibrium, I concluded that success was not solely dependent 100 percent on human effort! There had to be more to it. There must have been other factors involved because if people could depend 100 percent on human effort then everyone would have the opportunity to pull themselves out of poverty and provide the best life for themselves.

I also met people who knew that they had what it took to succeed but lacked the skills needed to move them forward. What about you? Do you know someone who has the gift that, everything he or she touches turns to gold? Or do you know people who tried everything yet never seemed to get the big breaks they were looking for?

With this in mind, I went in search of some answers - to find ways to empower people to recognize that in this age of enlightenment we have all that we need in order to move us out of the depths of mediocrity and suffering and into the heights of success. I knew that human beings are capable of so much more in life and can make a difference in their lives and the lives of the others and the world around them.

Equality In Conditions Does Not Guarantee Success

As I grew older, I became part of the working world and also owned several businesses. During that time, I noticed that there were many people who established similar businesses in various industries, under the same conditions, and in the same areas, yet there were few who succeeded and even fewer who made it to the top. I encountered people who worked exceedingly hard and carefully exercised strategies for success, and still found it difficult or sometimes impossible to achieve their goals. Many eventually gave up or settled for much less than they had wanted.

I became involved in the motivational and self-help industry where I observed similar results. There were thousands of people reading motivational and self-help books and going to coaching programs. People who were practicing affirmations, writing goals, faithfully envisioning and practicing various success strategies and exercises, and yet years later found that their results fell short of their expectations, while a chosen few made it big.

Then I became a Coach myself, and while involved in the coaching and motivational/self-help industries for several years, those observations continued to intrigue me. After years of observing people, I could not ignore what I saw around me - many people were doing everything they were taught to do and following what appeared to be the perfect plan and yet were not getting the breakthroughs they were seeking.

I knew something was missing. I had observed many of my friends and associates participating in various programs that produced results for other people but not for them. In many instances, the vast majority were still left to wonder how to grow to the next level of success.

Driven By A Higher Calling

I was always driven by a higher calling and a deeper passion. I was moved by all the suffering that I saw existing in the world and I wanted to make a difference. Since God created us in His/Her divine image, I felt great suffering could be eliminated if we all recognize and acknowledge the power that exists in each of us.

There was always a part of me that was motivated to create a better life for mankind in this world. I had always recognized the vast potential that lies in each of us. As I looked around and saw a world that was filled with so much abundance, I noticed there were so many who were living in lack and not realizing their true potential. Looking back I was always a student of life and success, not the kind of success that the world speaks about, but the individualistic type of success that fills a hunger inside each of us - the hunger that drives us to fulfill the destiny that we are meant to actualize.

I took my observations to a new level and started to study the lives of successful men and women. I started to observe the lives of motivational speakers, self-help gurus, coaches, psychics, astrologers, and pastors to see if they had the answers! I studied some of the best coaches and motivational speakers such as Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Joel Osteen, John Maxwell, Donald Trump and Les Brown. I even studied The Secret and Law of Attraction.

I believe that we are all empowered for success and success does not have to be for a chosen few and is not limited by our family background, status in life, or place of birth. My core focus was to discover how anyone could be successful and fulfill their God-given destiny no matter what their background or status in life. Success leaves clues and I was focussed on finding them.

I was fortunate that during my search, I stumbled upon an article that really helped put everything together for me. It was based on ancient Chinese wisdom that indicated that our life is greatly influenced by a few important factors that govern our successes and the most influential areas of our lives. They referred to this as the Trinity of Luck.

This was my aha moment that really resonated with me, and I felt that after numerous years of searching I had finally found the missing part of what I was looking for. I knew that for the first time I had found a theory that made sense to me and provided answers to the many questions I had. It provided ancient wisdom that is still applicable in a modern era!

I have found that each segment of that theory can be applied to the different areas of our lives, especially with success and so-called luck. I am very happy to say that I have introduced it in my first chapter and incorporated in the framework of this book.

Rise Above Your Circumstances

Very often, I hear people say that we can have anything that we want. I believe that we all were born with a specific blueprint, and like pieces of a puzzle, we have a unique role to play in this life. We are all given our unique gifts and abilities and it should be our focus to discover what those special gifts and abilities are.

We are all born into different circumstances in life, and it is our responsibility to live the best life we can and make the most of every opportunity that we are given. If you are born into circumstances that are not what you would like, then, rise above them and cultivate the attitude, mindset, habits and qualities that are needed in order to create the life that you desire.

Contrary to what you may have been taught there is nothing frivolous or superficial about pursuing what you want. Getting what you want isn’t a luxury that can wait until you’ve taken care of all the serious or urgent life issues that are vying for your attention. It is a necessity, since sometimes what you want is really what’s needed to take you to the next level!

Most people are never taught techniques to make their dreams a reality. They are never taught that it is possible to achieve their deepest lifelong dreams and visions. It is sad, but I believe that many people leave this world without ever fully realizing all that they were capable of achieving.

Whatever your individual dreams and goals may be, whether they are modest or magnanimous, there is a higher purpose for it. Your core focus is to "begin now" to bring it into fruition.
