What a joy and privilege to be asked to write the foreword for this book!

I met Val and Mariya several years ago here in the USA, and they shared their vision to wake up America. Thank God they are still following that vision. Having worked as a missionary in Bulgaria with my husband, Dr. Tim Cornett, we have seen firsthand what can happen when Christians fail to stand up against evil.

Val and Mariya are natives of Bulgaria and they write straight from their hearts and not with just head knowledge. They know what has transpired in their beloved homeland in the past. Thousands of Christians died under the communist regime, and corruption and evil continue to prevail even after the fall of communism in late 1989. We were there—we know the suffering, the long lines for daily bread, the absence of essential food, and the hopelessness and loneliness they experienced. And even today, the hopelessness continues, because where the wicked rule, the people suffer.

American Prophecy:

The Nation’s Destiny Encrypted in the Stories of Several Maritime Vessels

Preface

The concept for this book came to me during my second appearance on Atlanta Live television show in March 2010. My wife, Mariya, and I were invited by the hostess, Betty Cornett, to talk about the three books we had released in the preceding year. The conversation zeroed in on the second one—America’s Ultimate Survivor’s Overcomer’s Guide. The reason was that Betty felt the book contained a message that America needed to hear. During the musical pause, while Betty and her co-hostess were talking to my wife and me about some of the possible topics for our conversation for the second part of the interview, I felt led to take the ball into a rather unexpected direction. Even before the show began, the Holy Spirit had dropped into my spirit a comparison between the course of destiny the United States was taking and the fate of two infamous ships: the one that was supposed to carry the Apostle Paul to Rome, and the Titanic.

Since Betty had given me the liberty to follow the Holy Spirit in any direction He would lead me, I decided to take full advantage of it. In the following minutes, I did not talk so much about the book, but about what He had laid on my heart. At the time, I did not know that this subject would be the beginning of a new writing project. In the weeks after the interview, I was amazed to discover even more patterns in the fates of other maritime vessels (most of them related to American history), which included similar parabolic meanings.

Without pretending infallibility or even complete correctness of any given conclusion, I absolutely believe that the inspiration of the Holy Spirit was with me during the drafting of this book. My goal in writing it was not to impose on anybody my interpretation of the featured historical events and their spiritual meanings. Rather, my objective is, even if the reader chooses to refuse to share my vantage point, to warn that every behavior has its material and spiritual consequences. That’s why it would be costly to ignore the lessons that these stories are meant to teach. Especially, if the course this great nation is taking is going to cause a head-on, Titanic-like, collision. Or, if it has already caused it. . .

Introduction

Could a nation’s fate be encoded in something that seemingly does not exceed the boundaries of routine history? Is it loose speculation to try to read into events that, although projecting certain patterns, are still too disconnected from each other in order to come up with a scientifically precise algorithm? Is there any possibility that the destiny of the United States of America—one of the greatest nations ever—might be encrypted in something as trivial as maritime vessels and events related to them?

I will take a bold step and say, yes. Using the three witnesses of biblical prophecy, historical logic, and prophetic words by respected and proven men of God, I will state my case, and, having revealed some undeniable patterns and parallels, I will give you the opportunity to extract what will benefit you. And, in my opinion, the benefits will constitute a huge dividend from the investment of your precious time put into reading this book. Some of the returns on the investment will be:

•   a clearer vision for the future of this nation and the entire world,

•   knowledge and understanding of how to conduct your life in the final days of this present age,

•   a renewed passion for the things of God, and

•   a determination to distance yourself from the vain glories of this world and their distraction.

A few years ago, the biblical investigator and explorer Bob Cornuke made a claim, which I believe is based on serious evidence, that on the southeast shore of Malta, an anchor was found that might belong to the ship that transported the Apostle Paul on his journey to Rome. As profound as this discovery could be in the archeological quest to prove the precision of the biblical events, what I would like to do is to put to use a great principal of truth found in the story recorded in the Book of Acts, chapters 27 and 28. I want to pinpoint the passages that summarize the main theme of this book.

Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them, saying, Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives. Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul. And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to set sail from there also, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete opening toward the southwest and northwest, and winter there.

Acts 27:9-12

When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible. And they let go the anchors and left them in the sea, meanwhile losing the rudder ropes; and they hoisted the mainsail to the wind and made for shore. But striking a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the prow stuck fast and remained immovable, but the stern was being broken up by the violence of the waves. And the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.

Acts 27:39-42

In the above passages, we see that the Roman governmental official and the owner of the ship arrogantly ignored Paul’s warning of imminent danger. The end result was a shipwreck with all the lives saved but the entire cargo lost. The people in position of authority treated the Apostle’s advice as a mere human opinion and dismissed the divine concern behind it.

I believe that accident was a shadow and prototype of something which would keep on happing over and over again throughout history. God would communicate His warning and guidance through the lips of His servants to the ears of the power brokers of the day, and because of the pride of their hearts, they would refuse correction. The outcome has always been tragic: many times not only the cargo (the replaceable material stuff) has been lost but also the precious irreplaceable human souls have been displaced from this planet forever. The prophet Isaiah recorded that phenomenon:

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

"Whom shall I send,

And who will go for Us?"

Then I said, Here am I! Send me.

And He said, "Go, and tell this people:

‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;

Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
