Foreword
It is my pleasure and privilege to write and forward this work to my colleagues and friends. The question was asked of me, Why write a book?
Down through the years of my personal and professional situation as a minister, I have always encouraged other men and women to write a book that would inspire and motivate others to succeed in life. This counsel has been enforcement to me to write a book.
I was a late bloomer in life and didn’t start college until the age of thirty-five. I received a DMin degree at the age of fifty-eight. Now, at a ripe old age, I just want to encourage other younger men and women to let God take full control of their lives. You should always set goals and then strive to reach those goals.
Dr. Benjamin F. Reaves would say Tell the story
of your life successes and failures, shortcomings and inhibitions, and meeting the challenges of ministry, of the home, school, church, and community.
Each biblical text of the words of God along with spiritual devotion has inspired me to dig down deep within myself, to surrender my will to His will be done in me, and on earth as it is in heaven.
This is the formula for having a touch of heaven on Earth.
Introduction
This is my family background, the key players of influence in my life and beliefs.
Thomas Mack Lewis was a Texas native and a Baptist preacher. Because of his deliberate manners, his knowledge of the Bible, his upright principles, and his readiness to discuss Christian beliefs, people would come from miles around, just to hear the words of the Lord explained to them.
The Lewis family was one of a kind. Two sons, Dr. Ray Field and Dr. James Lewis, were medical doctors. One son, Henry Lewis, was a cowboy, and Rufus Lewis was a pig farmer.
Three daughters were teachers: Gail Lewis, Julia E. (Lewis) Broussard, my
