About this ebook
The Death of an Agent, portrays a young man who has been put in a position in his life that he has to take on the problems of the world on his own shoulders and make it right. Agent Jim Deliviki, must avenge his fathers death after experiencing his father, mother, and new wifes death on what was suppose to be a wedding gift from his father to him and his new wife. Unfortunately, all hell breaks loose and the cruise ship that they are on has been attacked by foreign fighter jets, possibly hired mercenaries by terrorist. Somehow Jims father and some high officials that were on the ship (Coincidence?) were getting too close to revealing a high strung terrorist at large and were sought out and silenced. The wedding gift was a perfect cover up from his father to get closer to solving who this terrorist was by hanging around the high officials, while giving his son a gift. Jim must pickup the trail where his father left off and continue to catch this terrorist and hopefully stop him before he strikes again.

Preface
In the early eighties, terrorism struck the United States of America. The year was 1983, and Washington, DC, was frozen over with snow and ice.
A young man in his midtwenties named Jim Deliviki moved to Washington to be closer to his parents and to introduce them to his new wife, June. They moved from Dallas, Texas, where Jim studied to be a bodyguard. All his life, he wanted to be like his father, who began the same line of work when he was Jim’s age.
Soon, Jim’s father put in a good word for his son at the place where he worked. He’d been working for the FBI for eleven years before Jim moved to Washington. He was getting tired of his job and longed for a vacation away from the States.
One morning in Jim’s apartment, the phone rang. It was his father, inviting Jim and June on a cruise ship to Nova Scotia. The trip was his wedding gift to them.
Jim accepted. Sunshine in paradise was a lot better than having Alaska in Washington.
The following week, they boarded the Blue Nose Two and set sail on the Atlantic. Jim’s father needed a vacation. His current assignment was getting too troublesome – he got too close to solving a terrorist attack on a Federal building.
The outcome had almost killed him and his wife. In fear and frustration, he decided it was time to leave town and hide awhile. Unfortunately, something went wrong. The cruise ship, filled with government officials, was too tempting a target.
At two-forty in the morning, Jim was taking a late walk along the fifth level of the ship, listening to the sound of waves crashing against the hull and the cries of sea gulls. He enjoyed the smell of fresh, damp seaweed when a missile was launched from a nearby fighter plane. There was a loud explosion that seemed to swallow everything within it.
The missile struck the ship’s main hull, sending tons of ocean water into the resulting hole. Within seconds, the ship listed and began to sink. People panicked and ran for their lives, only to meet their deaths.
Jim found his parents and June in their cabin, explained what happened, and tried desperately to get them to a lifeboat.
The fighter jet made several flybys, shooting at the crippled ship. Jim’s parents were struck by several rounds of bullets. When Jim turned to look for June, he witnessed her death as the fighter shot another missile into the deck underneath her.
Frightened and frustrated, Jim crawled to his parents and found his father barely alive.
Avenge my death,
he whispered before he died.
The ship began sinking rapidly, forcing Jim to plunge over the side. Minutes later, the ship was buried under the cold, dark blanket of the ocean, taking many lives with it.
Cold and terrified, Jim began swimming. After many long, miserable hours, he was picked up by a US Coast Guard patrol ship several miles off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine.
Chapter One
Two months later, Jim was determined to join the FBI and follow in his father’s quest to rid the US of terrorism. He finally was accepted as a special agent, but he was limited in the scope of his work.
Jim lived near Dullas International Airport on the outskirts of Washington. He didn’t have much of a lifestyle as an agent, but he adapted.
When he came home on August twenty-third, he found his home had been the target of a terrorist attack. Someone had blown it to pieces with explosives. He was currently working on a case involving spying on top terrorist figures who had been in Washington to purchase explosives from ex-military personnel. He learned that information when he eavesdropped on two men eating lunch at a fast-food restaurant.
Somehow, the men realized who Jim was. As Jim rummaged through the wreckage of his home, he found a note that had been attached to his front door by a knife with scorpions carved into the handle.
The symbol bothered him. He’d seen it before, but where?
Beware of your surroundings. You might run out of ground.
The note was puzzling, too. He didn’t understand it and wondered who might be after him.
Jim went to live with a friend and fellow agent named Scott Lombardo, a Vietnam veteran. They’d been through bodyguard school, and Scott knew what happened to Jim’s family.
Bodyguarding was serious business for both of them. After completing the course, both were assigned to a special-agent team involved with rescuing hostages. Jim was good with a shotgun, and Scott was equally good with a pistol.
