    The Vampire - m.g.-dailey

    Chapter 1

My name is Sebina Taylor and I remember my eighteenth birthday. I remember when I first met Kevin Barrett, my neighbor. We were ten years old.

The holidays had arrived and I was off from school on holiday vacation. Christmas Day was my favorite holiday. I could not wait to open my Christmas presents. My mother would cook all sorts of goodies. My father would bring in the wood from the shed and start a fire in our fireplace. We used to sit around the fireplace a lot. Mother and Father would drink a glass of wine and snuggle by the fire.

We had family and friends come over for Christmas dinner. I always received the nicest gifts from Aunt Agnes and Uncle Frank. Aunt Agnes always said that Santa left my presents at her house for her to bring to me on Christmas Day.

I remember my cousins Carol and Emma. They were twins. We were the same age. I liked when they visited. We had so much fun together. I did not have any sisters or brothers. At times I felt lonely, but Mother always made sure I would have something to do. At times I would help Mother with the Christmas cookies and chores around the house. Sometimes Carol and Emma would spend the weekend.

I wished they would visit more often but they lived in another state. We opened our Christmas presents and sat by the fireplace. Father would get marshmallows and roast them by the fire.

Carol and Emma fell asleep and were carried upstairs to bed. I was tired and sleepy as well, so I went to my room.

The weekend went by very quickly. On Sunday afternoon everyone was getting ready to go home. Carol and Emma packed their suitcase and got their Christmas presents and put them in the car. Mother made a picnic basket and gave it to Aunt Agnes. As the car went down the driveway, I kept waving goodbye to Carol, Emma, Aunt Agnes, and Uncle Frank.

    Chapter 2

My parents were invited to a Christmas party by Mr. Garret. Mr. Garrett worked with my father. This was the first year that Father and Mother decided they would go. Father looked so sharp in a white shirt, bowtie, and black tuxedo. Mother had a beautiful long green velvet dress. Mother put on her pearl earrings and pearl necklace. She looked like a princess.

Mother had bought me a beautiful dress. It was a red-and-white dress with flowers. It had a big red bow. I had white shoes and the pocketbook to match. Mother and Father always bought me beautiful clothes.

I remember it was snowing. It was a cold December day. The ride seemed so long. I enjoyed looking at the beautiful homes, the snow on the trees, the Christmas decorations, and the kids playing in the snow.

We were riding in the car for a long time. The ride seemed endless. There were rolling hills going up and down and lots of curves in the road. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. We saw tobacco barns, farmland, and wooded areas. It was so nice seeing horses, and once in a while we would see deer in the woods.

We passed by a large cemetery. Mother and Father said it was nice seeing lots of wreaths and poinsettias on the headstones. The snow covered most of the wreaths, but the poinsettias sitting on top of the snow looked so pretty.

There were people laying flowers and wreaths on the headstones. It’s nice to be remembered on the holidays.

    Chapter 3

We arrived at what I thought was a palace. The Christmas lights were so beautiful. There were so many cars and people walking up to the huge house.

It was a plantation home. At the door were Mr. and Mrs. Garrett. They were welcoming all the guests coming in. My parents shook Mr. and Mrs. Garrett’s
