Plans for this year? Christmas Eve is always the same – a quiet gathering with my parents. They put our family-heirloom nativity on display and decorate the Christmas tree with hand-painted glass baubles that have been passed down through the generations. After dinner, my mom reads from her grandfather’s Bible, then plays her guitar and sings us old Christmas songs and carols.
About 30 years ago a group of us young theatre actors, who were all glum about being far away from family over the holidays, got together for a Christmas lunch at someone’s house.
