About this ebook

Although I may have put the cart before the horse in writing this paperback, this educator-author still draws from teaching experience to promote an interest in everyday life and travel in the last century. He combines three e-books (if the first can be located) and one paperback entitled: Wise Men Seek Him. Fortunately I was in a home in whichmy parents stayed together for the life of their marriage, almost 50 years. I know this relationship might be over emphasized at times, but it gave me more stability in my background and was an important factor in getting a graduate degree in the field of education. In her later years, my mother opened up the doors of her home for church friendsand services, after Dad Didlo passed away. The home which my father provided, along with his wife and mother of five children...wasa second home for relatives in need of a place to stay with and without children, during mom'slater years.

Larry L. Didlo

My paperback entitled: American Community Voices, is predominately non-fiction in genre.  It is based on family life primarily in the Mid-West  It also includes a photograph of  when activated for the Berlin Crisis at Washington State, and an overseas Army Dependents School JHS track meet in Europe when  a teacher-counselor employed as a civilian with the American Government in 1967-68.  Newspaper clippings turned grey and torn at the edges a little,  bring more closure to the script of American Community Life paraphrased as 'voices' in the title.  I was also a track coach a few years during my teaching career!  Although I've subbed in classes as a reading teacher at K-12 grades, I never was employed full time in that position, so this project is sort of a substitution for full-employment experience in that area. The photograph taken at the Winnebago Fairgrounds indicate my unsucessful bid for the 54th District Assembly Seat in Oshkosh in the Republican Primary in 2006.  This out of classroom bid for public office was a bit like my working for Coca-Cola in Oshkosh as a summer route salesman my first two years at UW-O (Oshkosh State College then) before joining the Wisconsin National Guard at 19 as a sopomore, then  in the business curriculum at the local university.      This scouting anniversary year of 2010 is a banner year for scouters around the world for parents and adult leaders, who make such an event possible.  The 100 Year Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America should probably include Girl scouts as well, just as the American Legion's Auxillary  which gives balance to the mission of the organizations as well.  For example, The American Legion & Scouting Square Knot Award  for the year of 2010 is meant to recognize dedication and work  of both related organizations. The author is an active member of WSRA, PDK International, and ASCD. These organizations bring closure to the national education mission statements. Phi Delta Kappa, Wisconsin State Reading Association and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development have similar local, state and national goals.

This paperback book is composed of four previously published e-books by AuthorHouse.com It probably would be considered in the category or genre of non-fiction since it includes autobiographical text. The-e-books involved are about family development principles and ideas, plus reading literacy concepts. The photographs are from the family album mostly and news clippings from the past. As you’ll probably agree after your first reading, some of the text is associated with a skewed curve in terms of frequency. How many people have the opportunity to teach overseas as a civilian for example?

The scouting awards and community service involvement, plus sometimes a global perspective, were derived from my teen years. Scouting is worldwide and enjoys the privilege of bringing young people together to share ideas and experiences in a positive setting. Scouting assisted me when delivering papers as a paperboy in JHS and helped me adjust to one of my first part time high school jobs. At 15 I was able to work in a retail store where my dad was the manager. Among other responsibilities, I trimmed windows viewed by pedestrians passing by the dollar store and worked behind the Store fountain or lunch counter. I recall my dad speaking about one of the manager’s and assistant manager’s specials: A bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich made with toast. That fountain special was rivaled when my mother boiled lobster tail and served it to her crew of five children with melted butter.

B-P of course is the George Washington of America in general terms when speaking of the scouting movement. Evangelist Billy Graham would probably also add that boy and girl scouts are beholden to all of its founders as well. I for one, nominated my father, or dad, to be on the James E. West Foundation Society list of the Twin-Lakes District within the Bay Lakes Council. My parents involvement at a Oshkosh local church fostered my receiving the God and Country Award a year after I was awarded the Eagle pin in Manitowoc at a Kiwanis Club Banquet. I accepted the religious award and recognition in Oshkosh after my dad was transferred from Manitowoc in 1955. My dad was among a very few individuals to encourage me to shoot for the highest award in scouting.

President JFK gave the 32nd Wisconsin National Guard a call-up for the Berlin Crisis when I was enrolled in secondary education courses as a full time student and a Junior at the time… taking practicum or practice teaching in social problems classes at high school locally. This was during the Viet Nam era in 1961-62 at Fort Lewis Washington. More than ten thousand Wisconsin Guardsmen were later trained and considered a part of the US Army National Guard, after being activated in the fall of 1961 and returning. from Christmas vacation. The division didn’t have to go overseas to Germany since it didn’t escalate while the Berlin Wall was being put up. General Smith, the commanding General at the time, was in his later years. He did visit our company to deliver a speech. I was later assigned to the pool and gynmasium area as a PFC
