    Introduction

T his well crafted and interesting story depicts the psychology of growing up. It is a study on the effects of social environment on the character of a growing child.

Centred on Ben, whose hope of growing up in Nigeria as a responsible child was dashed by the behaviours of his mother, Merinda, a single parent, the story takes the reader from the beginning of his life to the tragic end.

This happens in his year 11 and at the end of Key Stage 4. And by the time he gets far in his education he has become a killer.

This state of madness culminates into serious calamity to whoever crosses his way. His
