ENOUGH After that last episode I never went back to my husband. I didn’t know a lot about GOD, but I prayed to ask GOD to help me. I knew that GOD exist. I didn’t even know how to ask GOD to forgive me for not listening to HIM and wanting to do things my way. I had to learn the hard way.

    Chapter 1

    Growing Up in Philadelphia

W HEN I WAS FIVE YEARS old, our family—my mother, grandmother, grandfather, sister, and I—moved from one neighborhood to a much nicer one. Families would look out for one another then. In the summertime, my grandmother spread a blanket on the front porch, and we slept outside. We could go to bed without locking our doors in those days—the 1950s.

Our mother moved to New York City to live with relatives. My mother was a young single parent, only seventeen. She and my father were separated when I was two and my sister was one. But our grandparents took very good care of my sister and me.

My sister and I had different interests in life. In spite of our differences, we loved each other. We loved our grandparents
