Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. Scriptures often point to the Spirit of God coming upon a common man, filling them with His presence and giving them an anointing to do His work. Dr.Charles Shockley, as you will find as you read this book, is one common man that God called to do uncommon things. My fondest memory of him and his wife Linda came through his ministry. We brought our daughter home from the hospital to recover from surgery, having undergone a hysterectomy. She was in so much pain that the pain pills would not bring relief. She could not keep anything down or go to sleep. We called the Shockley’s late at night to come and pray for her. With a child like prayer and faith that moved heaven, he anointed her with oil and laid hands on her. The pain left and within fifteen minutes she was asleep, breathing normally and slept all night. The next morning she was back to normal, healed of the pain.

As one who has earned degrees in the field of the behavioral sciences, education, and theology, I can attest to the validity of this man’s calling, his walk with God, and commitment to the Kingdom of God. He is a great example of the graciousness of a man who is filled with the Spirit of God. Every person who has a call of God on his/her life should read this book.
