About this ebook

Debra and her sister Chanise were born only 18 months apart. Chanise is the oldest of the two. Fact, they dont always see eye to eye but when it comes to finding out what happened to their dear friend Mrs. Brown or Mama Brown as they affectionately called her, they would stop at nothing. Thats until Debra lied to the police and threatened their freedom. How will they uncover the mystery behind Mrs. Browns disappearance? It will take a family effort and the breaking of more rules to get to the truth.

As a little girl, I would make up stories and pretend I was solving mysteries. So, I tried to make this book unpredictable, full of twists and turns and yet leave you teary eyed at the same time.

I wrote this book to inspire, educate and entertain people, especially children and teens all over the globe.

The characters are modeled after my daughters, husband, nephews, and nieces. Their unique personalities shine through and once youre finished reading this novel you will feel as though youre apart of our family.

There are some serious subjects covered in this book including diabetes, head trauma and honesty. Please take the time to learn more about each subject by visiting the links at the end of the novel.

Here are the main characters:

For Chavonne, Chanise, Debra, Ryan, Mom, Dad, Richard,

and you, the reader of this book

    Preface

As a little girl, I would make up stories and pretend I was solving mysteries. I wrote this book to inspire, educate, and entertain people all across America.

This is my first novel. So many people have helped me with the production of this book. First of all, I thank God for giving me the gift of creativity. Mom, you have been my biggest cheerleader, editor, advisor, and everything else I’ve needed; I can’t thank you enough. My daughters, I love all of you so much; Chavonne, you typed this entire book from my scribbles on a notepad. Chanise and Debra, your funny personalities inspired me, and you allowed me to use you as characters. Ryan, my smart second-grader, you found words I misspelled. My hubby Rich, you kept waking up in the wee hours of the night to check on me.

My brother David and my sister Tiffany, thank you for giving me plenty of nieces and nephews to pattern my characters after. Dad, you are the rock that inspired me to be a voice for people. My first editor, Laura, you taught me the basics, and I know I still have a long way to go. My friend Mary Muhammad, you and your eighth-grade students of Walter Q. Gresham Elementary School gave me hope with the kind words and great illustrations. You were the first class to critique the book, and I will never forget any of you. I have included the name of every student who wrote me a letter.

Thanks to Unique, Djuan, Simone, Myeisha, Marquisha, Kyle, Jonathan, Robert, Justin, Alyshia, Andriana, Justice, Montinese, Brianna, Darrell, and Christopher.

    Epilogue

I hope you enjoyed reading my first published novel. While the story is a fictional one, the issues are not. Dishonesty is a big deal and can lead to very serious consequences.
