To my mother, whose belief in me and creativity constantly inspired. To my father, whose shared work ethic keeps me going. To my sisters, who always keep me guessing. To my brothers, watching over me from above. And to God, my mentors, Mike, Claire, and John, who help me focus on what’s really important in life.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Mastering others requires force; mastering the self needs strength."

Foreword
Many of us live our lives on the sidelines. By that, I mean, we do not fully jump into the game of life, learn ways to best play the game and really take action to improve our performance with and satisfaction from the game. Life is meant to be fun and to be lived abundantly, happily, richly and deeply. Our ultimate purpose in the game of life is to create and grow relationships with others, one human touch at a time. Courageous Clarity: Four Keys to Unlock the Leader Inside is a terrific guide to more fully develop your life’s playbook.
There is nothing more important than growing relationships through being present in the moment and getting to know others to learn how you may be able to help them. One of the ways I grow each day is by networking everywhere and anywhere I can. However, I don’t network to find out what someone can do for me. I network to find out how I can reach out and touch someone
by helping them. In fact, I’ve developed a 5/10/15 contact system for networking that I explain in my latest New York Times best-selling book Networking is a Contact Sport. Forget growing your number of friends
on your Facebook account just for the sake of having a higher number of contacts. The human touch always trumps technology and you truly grow as a person only when you meet someone face-to-face, look them in the eye and send positivity into the universe by helping them.
Both Denise Stillman and I are entrepreneurs who believe in the indomitable power of the human spirit and the unlimited possibilities available to all of us. This book not only gives you a very simple, yet powerful, way to examine your behaviors that may be limiting your progression toward your goals – it also describes in detail specific ways to remove what is blocking your growth toward success in many areas of your life: your business, your relationships, your spirituality and more.
One of the best ways you can begin to move toward your goals and dreams is to change your mindset and move toward positivity in every area of your life, especially if you are starting a new chapter, whether it be through a job or career change or building a new business. Utilizing the tools Denise provides in Courageous Clarity and online at
www.courageousclaritythebook.com, you will begin to clear your mind, your heart and your spirit of what may be preventing you from living your wish I had
life and reaching the heights of success both Denise and I know are possible.
My advice to you is to read Courageous Clarity and use the fourth key – action – to unlock your leader inside. Your path to unbridled success will be much more evident and you will be on your way to a life you’ve only dreamed of until this point. And, who knows? Maybe you’ll find inspiration to begin building your own successful business, too.

I’ve had this book in my head and heart for more than a decade. However, I was able to write it only after I came up for air
from a hamster-wheel kind of life when I voluntarily hopped off the employed freight train and onto the entrepreneur express.
What inspired me greatly to write this book is the phrase I don’t know how you do it,
which I heard at least one hundred times in my nearly 20-year career in marketing, strategy, and
