Brooke sat behind her desk at the head of the classroom, checking the few, new emails on the laptop's screen on it. The first one was from a subscription to an online beauty magazine, which she sent to the spam folder, the second from her ex-boyfriend, Jeremy. Why in the world is he contacting after our horrible breakup last year? A memory of their final, heated screaming match involuntarily played. Clearing her mind, she focused on the computer again and hesitated, but after a bit clicked it open anyway to see he was inviting her to dinner.

Maybe it wouldn’t kill me to see what he has to say… The thirty-four-year-old typed up a response, muttering to herself as to not disturb the dozens of students silently taking their math tests at the other desks out in front. A tired sigh escaped her mouth, and she looked up to see a chubby, Indian male leaning over to peek at the black girl's paper beside him. Brooke waited until he inevitably made eye contact with her; when he did shortly after, she squinted her eyes in disapproval, causing him to fidget and return to his own paper. However, he repeated the same action only a couple of minutes later.

Unbelievable. Mohinder. The teacher called out to him, causing another fidget, and all the other students to look at her. Are you insane?

W-What? His eyes were wide in confusion.
