About this ebook
Robur kidnaps the Weldon Institute's secretary, president, and the president's valet. He takes them on board his ship, a huge, battery-powered, multirotor gyrodyne called the Albatross, which has many vertical airscrews to provide lift, and two horizontal airscrews in a push-pull configuration to drive the vessel forward.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I've read a pile of Verne books over the years and I always wondered how one man could be full of so many ideas. Then I read this book and realized this is when he ran out of them.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was initially interesting in depicting early mechanical flight nearly 20 years before the Wright Brothers. But there was very little plot and much of it read like a travelogue. It digressed into sheer tedium and I gave up on it 30 pages before the end as I could not make myself care what happened next; the plot summary on Wikipedia was a perfectly adequate and quicker, less painful way to fill in the ending.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As pointed out in other reviews, the plot is certainly less than in in other Verne novels - still, it is amazing that Verne foresaw so much of heavier than air flight. A fun read just because of this.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was an entertaining account of flying machines, plots, and wild plot turns. I was thoroughly entertained by this one and would have even liked it to go further, but in its brevity lies its succinct prowess as well. This is a great tale, not perfect- mind you, but a good one and I feel that it offers much for early science-fiction enthusiasts, Verne lovers, and those interested in adventure stories.3.75 stars.
