CHAPTER ONE

Dallas, Texas

Lie down. He walked Allison Murphy into her bedroom, running his gloved fingers through her midnight-blue box braids. Did you enjoy your bath?

She wrapped the towel around her shivering, medium-brown figure.

Don’t cry. Lie down.

She climbed onto the bed and shoved her face into the white pillow, giving him another chance to relish in her curvaceous frame.

It’s okay. He jiggled his crotch, his dick still recovering from the fantastic orgasm. I’m not going to kill you.

She removed the pillow from her face, her uneven lips trembling. Please. She gripped the towel which hid those delicious breasts he wished her were still sucking. Just go.

You know how sexy you look like that? The soft fabric of the ski mask moved against his lips, reminding him of the curly hairs on her snatch. I never go down on my prey. He swallowed, staring at her silky skin. But, the first minute I saw you I wanted to pleasure you. He touched her hair, and she shrieked. You should be flattered, darling. The only pussy I ever eat is my wife’s.

Her large, round caramel-brown eyes spread. You’re the devil. She turned her head, and he caught the darkening bruise on her right cheek. You won’t get away with this.

I’ve been getting away with it this long… He straightened the glove on his right hand. I’m invisible and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it. His crotch tingled, and he maneuvered his dick. Fuck, I’m hard again.

She grimaced, shutting her eyes.

Allison, he whispered, licking the fibers of the mask. I’m still inside you.

She gave him that repulsed look they all did afterwards.

You felt so good. So moist. You liked it, didn’t you?

Sick bastard. She grabbed the lamp and ripped its cord out of the wall. You raped me once but you’re not raping me again. I’d rather be dead.

He held up the knife. You sure?

You won’t kill me because you’re a coward.

Check the attitude. He got her ripped panties off the floor and stuffed them into his pocket. I might come back and see you again.

Then you’d better kill me now because I’m going to make sure you’re off the street. She raised the lamp higher. I won’t let you hurt anybody else. If I can’t stop you, God will.

Bravo, Preacher’s Daughter. He clapped his hands, laughing. I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Pay extra attention to your daddy’s sermon next time. You’ve done something to deserve this.

I did nothing!

Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure. He wagged his finger. Sit down and think long and hard and you will probably find something. He picked up the African necklace with a cross made of pearls from the dresser. You’re a Christian woman. You’re supposed to forgive me.

Can you forgive yourself? She squinted. No, because you hate who you are.

Is that so? He sniffed her coconut scent from the necklace and slipped it in his back pocket. Enlighten me, Oprah.

Why do you do this? Do you hate women? Do—

No, no, no. He leaned on the dresser. I love women very much and before you go there, nothing happened in my childhood either. My mother didn’t abuse me and my daddy never made me suck his cock. He glanced at her hanging breasts. I just love fucking black women.

You don’t love black women. Her face contorted. If you did, you wouldn’t do something like this to a total stranger. Or do you just like to hurt people?

I do it because it gets me off. He shrugged, moving the knife in between his fingers. Don’t make it deeper than it is. I like the fear. I like the way a woman’s body trembles when she’s cornered. He inched toward the bed, reaching for her.

She lay back against the headboard. Stay away from me.

I like how her breathing gets so loud that it penetrates the room. He touched her cheek. I like how she shivers so badly, her teeth chatter.

Don’t. She sobbed. Get out.

I like how she looks up at me and her face falls flat with desperation and horror that magical moment she realizes… He snatched off her towel. That I’m in control.

No, she whimpered.

I’m in control, Allison. He dragged the knife down her shin. Don’t make me prove it again.

Thirty-six-year-old Ethan Grace arrived home from his walk twenty minutes later. He put the mask, gloves, and knife in the trunk of his black Mazda as always before heading to his porch.

The Sellers’ bedroom light popped on next door and Naomi Sellers stood at the window, the thin white nightgown showcasing her deep chocolate skin.

Women, he whispered,
