Introduction
When someone thinks of Vivien Leigh, the image that often comes up is that of the stunning southern belle, Scarlett O’Hara, the character she played in the movie, Gone with the wind.
In the film, her costumes, green eyes, dark hair and amazing facial features were almost too beautiful to look at, and she possessed a certain presence that left everyone in the room spellbound by her charm. The two great loves of her life, Sir Laurence Olivier, and the theater remained a significant influence on her until the day she died. Fascination with her most famous character, Scarlett O'Hara, still, to this day, resonates with film lovers of all ages. She made an enormous impact in Hollywood first with Scarlett O’Hara, then with the role of Blanche DuBois in the movie, A streetcar named desire.
The roles Vivien played are still timeless. She was a kind and gentle soul. Vivien
