About this ebook

All They Do Is Win (The Story of the NBA's Newest Dynasty): The Golden State Warriors is a new book written by sports enthusiast, Adam Alexander. The book follows the 2018 NBA title run of the Golden State Warriors, following their history from the late 1980s to the present day. It tells the story of the "Run-T.M.C." years with Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin, along with the Chris Webber/Latrell Sprewell 1994 playoff run, and the lean years of the 1990s and early 2000s. Also touched on is the Jason Richardson/Antawn Jamison/Gilbert Arenas era, leading up to the "We Believe" playoff run, in 2007, which predates the Mark Jackson era, which led to the dynasty. Then, the story concludes, telling the greatest stories of the Warriors' current run, led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, and later Kevin Durant, the two-time NBA Finals MVP, coached by Steve Kerr.

All They Do Is Win - Adam Alexander

    Introduction

    ––––––––

There was a period of time when it looked like the NBA wouldn’t have another dynasty. Once the early 2000s’ Los Angeles Lakers broke up, no team could manage to win back-to-back championships. The only team that managed to win multiple titles were the San Antonio Spurs, but the team historically was rarely even a threat to repeat.

    ––––––––

In the late 2000s, the Lakers ended up becoming the next team to repeat, following their own franchise, as the previous team to do so. The following year, the Miami Heat put together an all-time historic team and they ended up winning back-to-back titles. Overall, they went to four consecutive NBA Finals appearances.

    ––––––––

Once the Miami Heat fell from contention, a team most people were sleeping on came out of nowhere to win the NBA championship. In the 2010s, the NBA’s Western Conference had emerging teams in the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Clippers, but neither team was able to ever win a championship.

    ––––––––

These were problems the Golden State Warriors didn’t have, as they easily crossed 60 wins, winning 67 games, and taking on the much more experienced Cleveland Cavaliers. The next season, the Warriors proved they were no joke, going 73-9, over the regular season, but they ended up historically blowing their 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers, losing the title.

    ––––––––

Determined to never let that happen again, the Warriors have gone 8-1 against the Cavaliers in the Finals, since then. This means three championships in four years, going back-to-back, making them the NBA’s newest dynasty. Their four year domination has officially shifted the power away from such teams as the Los Angeles Lakers.

    It Wasn’t Always Easy

    ––––––––

Because of how good the Golden State Warriors are, now, and the amount of wins they get, people think this team came out of nowhere. But, the fans in the Bay Area know this is actually a much different story. This story goes back to the 1980s, when fans knew the Warriors would be contenders throughout the 1990s, but it didn’t turn out like that.

    ––––––––

In the 1980s, the Warriors acquired players like Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin, who were known as Run-T.M.C. This team
