Racism Doesn't Matter - Steve Parson

INTRODUCTION
If the title of this book caught your attention, probably the first question that came to your mind was, what does he mean racism doesn’t matter? Is he crazy? So, let me first say that racism exists today and will probably be here for a long time. It is wrong, it’s ignorant and can lead to actions done against others that in some way will cause a person to have to answer to the authorities that be for their actions. However, we must understand that racial prejudice itself is not illegal or against the law even though it is wrong. Why? Because it is an attitude, a belief or a way of thinking. We cannot change what a person believes or thinks, it’s their choice. Usually a person believes what they think and thinks what they believe.
America is a country where we have freedom of speech which is a constitutional right, so certainly people can have freedom of thought. If a person wants to think that they are better, more intelligent or more important than someone or if a person doesn’t like a person or group of people because of the color of their skin or race and says so, that’s their prerogative. Remember in America we have freedom of speech.
In reading this book, you will examine the impact of racism and discrimination in the past and present time. You will be presented with statistical, historical, and spiritual facts supporting the truth that racism doesn’t matter. So, does it really matter what someone thinks of you? The most important thing however, is how and what an individual think of himself. The Word of God says, As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Chapter 1
Racism Facts vs Discrimination
Racism is not dead, but it is on life support - kept alive by politicians, raise hustlers, and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as racist
-Thomas Sowell
Racism vs Discrimination
Racism and racial prejudice is an attitude, a belief, a way of thinking primarily about others.
The American needs to understand the difference in these words racism and discrimination. The definition of discrimination however, is an ACT of treating a person or group of people unfairly or differently than other people or groups of people. I will add that it’s something that a person does to or against someone or a group. The Black Community, in my opinion, wastes too much time and energy blaming racism for its shortcomings.
Part of that today is because the term racism and racist has become a political power or tactic used by the liberal Democratic Party platform to influence, persuade and/or keep the majority of the Black American vote which is around 92 to 95 percent. Again, we must understand that Racism is a belief or an attitude that only that person can change with God’s help.
Now, discrimination is different.
Number one, its illegal and a person discriminated against can sue in federal court. He or she can be financially compensated, which is far better. It’s more effective than protesting about racism and burning down our own communities with riots or getting thrown into jail or kneeling down when we should be standing up.
In my opinion, we need to focus on our own believing, thinking and self-esteem. We need to focus on solutions to our own problems, rather than other people’s problems. Let’s focus on things like economic empowerment, independence, community development and projects to fix ourselves, building our own communities with businesses to end poverty and unemployment, lack of fathers in the home, the unwed mothers’ crisis, abortion which is black genocide, drugs, alcoholism, black on black crime, poor credit scores, financial illiteracy, home ownership etc.
I’m a product of the late 50’s and early 60’s and was part of the riots after the death of Dr. Martin Luther King. However, I have experienced racism from and within my own race in my own black neighborhood. I remember some of my dark-skinned brothers used to say to me, Stevie, you think because you are light skin you are better than me.
We were called yellow N’s. The favorite saying back then to light skin negroes was, You are light, bright and almost white.
In fact, Stevie, you even talk like the white boys.
They used to say that because my parents taught me to never use cuss words and to use correct English instead of da, dat, ain’t and y’all.
I used to say, heck yeah! and ah shoot and my goodness when upset.
A Racist can be a person who thinks not only that they are better than someone but also less or not as good of someone because of the color of their skin.
The most important thing again is what that person thinks of them self. Whether good or bad, right or wrong it can affect their future. Proverbs 23:7 says, As a man thinketh in his heart so is he,
and only he can change it. I don’t waste my time trying to get people to like me. As long as they are not discriminating against me which is an illegal act I don’t care what they think. That’s their problem. I think highly of myself as a child of God.

Spiritual Facts
THE BATTLE IS SPIRITUAL
Ephesians 6:12
We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high or heavenly places.
Color has nothing to do with it.
ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
Your Attitude, Motivation and then your determination (how bad you want to win) determines the outcome! For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7
Color has nothing to do with it.
