About this ebook

Life and death are all around us, but what if death didn't have to exist? What if eternal life was actually our time here on earth? In this book we'll explore the command that Jesus gave us; and that is, to raise the dead? Matthew 10:8 says, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give."

Did you know that raising the dead is not a new concept? However, it is not something that we see a lot of followers of Jesus the Christ performing today. Elisha, Elijah, Ezekiel, Jesus, Paul and Peter all raised the dead and we walk with the same Holy Spirit. One aspect they all had in common was, they never pronounced a person dead, but rather sleeping.

In this course, you will learn biblical principles for raising the dead. What steps to take before raising the dead and what steps not to perform. In these last days, God is raising up an end time army to perform the miraculous deeds as Jesus. Are you ready?

Von Cook

Von Cook likes to refer to herself as a follower of Jesus the Christ. She grew up Christian and went to Catholic/Christian schools, but swayed from her upbringing to find the God that Jesus referred to as, Father. With so many questions unanswered, and not seeing Christ in Christians, Von took a liking to the occult. Von spent over 20 years practicing Wicca. It was during this practice, filled with spells, rituals and chants where she decided to go to Bible College. Within three years, she graduated earning her ministerial degree, but something was still missing. Von knew that the Bible was much stronger than any magic and one afternoon she came across a book on spiritual warfare. During the year of studying spiritual warfare, Von discovered that the Father wasn't as far away as she imagined him to be. For she was always practicing spiritual warfare just not Biblical Godly warfare. It was after this discovery, Von knew that being a follower of Jesus the Christ was the one and only path for her; not to become religious, but to have a close relationship with the Father. “I had to line up my thoughts and mouth with the word of God,” Von says. With everything rapidly changing in the world today, her blog, The Cook Reader Files offers insights and instructions on spiritual warfare; along with basic instructions on how to walk in your God-given authority while experiencing much joy. Von took to heart Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness...” As a result, she is therefore known by her family and friends as a “seeker”. Von believes there is more to the Bible than what is being taught in most churches around the world today, and it is up to us to seek those answers in order to have a close relationship with the Father. Von believes the main reasons why many are leaving the Christian faith is, the power of the Holy Spirit is not being shown, but rather the power of darkness is manifesting greatly; and... it's hard to find Christ in Christians. Hence, these reasons, Von decided to be the Christian — she wanted to see.

    THE GOSPEL OF THOMAS

    113 His disciples said to him, 'When will the kingdom come?' Jesus said, It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying here it is or there it is.Rather, the kingdom of the Father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.

    RESURGAM

    There is no death! Our stars go down

    To rise upon some fairer shore;

    And bright heaven's jewelled crown

    They shine for evermore.

    There is no death! The dust we tread

    Shall change beneath the summer showers

    To golden grain or mellow fruit,

    Or rainbow-tinted flowers.

    The granite rocks in powder fall,

    And feed the hungry moss they bear

    The fairest leaves drink daily life

    From out the viewless air.

    There is no death! The leaves may fall,

    The flowers may fade and pass away;

    They only wait through wintry hours

    The coming of the May.

    And, ever near us, though unseen,

    The fair immortal spirits tread;

    For all the boundless universe

    Is life; there are no dead!

    THE BODY AT DEATH

    It's important to understand what happens to the physical body at death. There are several stages a body goes through as it decomposes over the first 24-48 hours after death. We will learn this to gain an understanding of what occurs to the body at the point of death. Let's briefly discuss the stages of physical death relating them to the stages of those who were raised in the Bible.

    The first thing that happens when a body dies is, the heart stops beating and blood pools. The blood pools because the heart stops circulating. We know, especially from watching medical television shows, that the moment the heart stops, the physician marks the time of death. Once the heart stops pumping, it is no longer producing oxygen-rich blood to the brain and other organs of the body. At this point the rest of the body begins to die. Because, the blood is no longer flowing, it then pools to wherever it is in our veins and arteries at that time. This is the first thing to happen before the stages of decomposition.

    The first stage of death is called, pallor mortis, and it begins 15-25 minutes after death. It occurs in those with light to white skin.

    The second stage is called, algor mortis, known as death chill begins to take place, but not at the same rate throughout the body. It is the change in body temperature. This does not happen until 30 minutes to an hour after death. The body cools more rapidly at the surface and more slowly in the interior.

    Common Words and Definitions

    Coroner – an official who investigates violent, suspicious or sudden deaths.

    Autopsy – (also called post-mortem) is a highly specialized surgical procedure consisting of a thorough examination of a deceased person by dissection to discover the manner and cause of death. An autopsy is also performed to evaluate any disease and injury.

    Brainstem – the brainstem is the computer room of the body. It's the part of the brain where breathing, the heart, the brain itself is controlled. If this part of the brain is dead, the the person is considered dead. What people refer to as brain dead.

    Pallor mortis – the first stage of death.(Latin: pallor means paleness, and mortis means of death), the first stage of death, is an after death paleness that occurs in those with light/white skin.

    Algor mortis – the second stage of death. (Latin: algor means coldness and mortis means death or of death ), often called the death chill, is the cooling of the body.

    Rigor mortis – the stiffening of the body that occurs two – six hours after death.

    Liver mortis – the fourth stage in death. It is the settling of blood in the lower portion of the body.

    Let's take a look at Acts 20:7-12, we can assume that the man Paul raised from the dead was in this stage, for when Paul went down to see him, he fell on him and stated his life was within him. And after several hours, the people brought the man alive. Notice Paul fell upon him. In this stage, the death chill, there is a change in temperature. So, the man had a chill and Paul warmed him by falling upon him.

    We also read in I Kings 17:17-24, that Elijah did the same with the widow's son. First he prayed, then he stretched himself upon her son and asked for his soul to be brought back into him. So, at the algor mortis stage, the soul has left the body. Remember after Paul fell upon the man, he
