Giant Days is a YA comic about a trio of first-year college students in the UK, who seem to find trouble wherever they go. I went into knowing it was the first volume of a series, but I was disappointed that it didn't seem to standalone at all. It reads like a series of vignettes and then ends just as a new one is starting. Each vignette seemed to be half baked and are therefore rather unsatisfying with their lack of meatiness. Furthermore, the characters were all too over the top for me. Perhaps fittingly, the illustrations are equally expressive to a fault. I have no desire to pick up any further volumes from this series.

I really liked this! The representation of university life was pretty much spot on, and I liked how they explored different facets of what to expect during your first few months. Can't wait to read more volumes. I enjoyed the artwork and how our characters were introduced. I'm excited to get to know them more and see how they develop and change due to university life.

While I love some superhero comics as well as comic series that feature strife and conflict (Saga, Bitch Planet), it is so refreshing to read a comic series that features regular people doing regular things like panicking when they realize that university exams are nearing. But the best part is the friendship of these three girls, despite their different personalities, and how they would do anything for each other.

LOVE THIS. Perfect for fans of Raina Telgemeier and Lumberjanes who are getting older and want something more mature. And, at the risk of sounding like an a$$hole: I can't believe this was written by a guy. John Allison perfectly captures those first moments of freedom and last moments of "innocence" that are the late teens. I was never exactly any of these girls, but I can see my younger self in all of them.

Maybe it was all the set up for future episodes or maybe it was the British vibe, but this didn't quite make it for me. The characters were too big and lacked any dignity. Maybe future volumes will improve the stories.

At one point in my life--25-30 years ago--I would have enjoyed this graphic novel. Now I am too old, the plot seems a little silly (or maybe just very typical and not original). My 8th grader was somewhat interested (he LOVES graphic novels), but this is not appropriate for him (too many drugs) and I also think he would find it boring (relationships).

This graphic novel follows 3 girls navigating life as college freshman and all the things that come with that. I was a little unsure if I would get into this story or not but it surprised me. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of these in the future!

A quick introduction to these eclectic and hilarious characters, helping to relive my good old university days....that i never really had. Am glad there is a series to follow becasue I want to see what else they get up to.

Susan, Esther, and Daisy started university and became great friends and now they are using their newfound freedom to reinvent their characters, leaving their old personas behind, or at least try to. I really like the characters and the situations they get into feel real for their ages. The art is simple, but is very expressive and fits the purpose. Very enjoyable read and I will have to try another installment.

Giant Days is the story of three women attending university and sorting out their love lives, their academics, and themselves. Daisy is a sheltered, sweet young woman who moderates between the dramatic and beautiful Esther de Groot and the cynical, smoking Susan Ptolemy. Giant Days takes place through a series of vignettes - one dealing with the unfortunate arrival of Susan's arch-enemy, who both Daisy and Esther think is cute; Esther being featured on a misogynistic website, and Daisy's flirtation with a friend on her 18th birthday.

A perfect slice-of-life comic about university, this will take almost everyone back to their college days. The characters are hilarious and realistic - the beautiful drama queen, the sheltered naif, and the caustic, down-to-earth one.

Additionally, the art style is bright, funky, and dynamic. Each panel was a delight to pore over. The people are very well done and the colors pop from the page.

In this comics collection, three girls room next to each other at university and have become one another's best friends. The navigate university, parties, significant others, getting the flu, and so on--all the stuff that feels so important in college, because it *is.* I just loved this to bits and will be reading all the rest of it. Recommended.
