About this ebook
Garrett Christopher, a 24-year-old violinist, lives west of Cochrane, Alberta, near the front range of the Canadian Rockies where the country is heavily forested and wild animals prowl. Born to a single mother who abandoned him when he was four years old, he was shuffled from his grandparents in Calgary to relatives in Montreal, and then back to his aunt west of Cochrane where his life proceeded along a more peaceful path.
After he completes a university education, he puts classical music aside, preferring to play fiddle in a band with his buddies. Most importantly, he marries his long-time fantasy girl, Glenys.
When his grandmother passes away unexpectedly, skeletons begin to creep out of the family closet, prompting him to ask questions. Where is his mother? Who is his father? And where is the baby girl his grandmother had given birth to long ago and who suddenly and mysteriously disappeared? After he becomes a person of interest in a murder, he has no other options but to make his way through a maze of attacks, betrayals, and tragedies

Reviews for A Minor Musician
5 ratings5 reviews
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book. The characters are real, engaging, and believable. The story is always interesting, and you come to care a lot about what happens to them, especially the main character, Garrett. It kept my interest all the way through.
A Minor Musician is the story of Garrett, a young man navigating challenges in his marriage, while unraveling mysteries and secrets of his childhood and family. As if the sudden death of his grandmother wasn’t enough for Garrett’s family, not long after they are faced with a murder, and several of them end up being suspects – especially Garrett! I would truly like to meet Garrett, and my other favorite characters, Joe and Marty.
This book is a great read for anyone who likes a bit of adventure, a bit of mystery, a bit (ok, maybe a lot) of drama, and some great characters. As a bonus (for me), it is set in the Calgary area, which I’ve lived in for several years, so it was entertaining to follow Garrett’s movements around an area that I know and love. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a terrific page turner. Filled with rich characters and a plot that twisted and turned in every direction. There's a lot to this story and it was a great read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Relatable characters, natural flowing dialogue and an intriguing plot line make A Minor Musician hard to put down. Set in the foothills of the Rockies the book explores the relationships of a fractured nuclear family against a background of murder, betrayal and a search for roots. I was drawn to the main character, felt his pain and hoped his search for his past would be successful. I look forward to following his and his family's travels in a sequel.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The main character, Garrett, held a real appeal as he negotiated several unexpected turns in what he thought was a pretty settled life. The book was engaging and entertaining. Easy to read; hard to say goodbye to at the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A little suspense....a little drama....a little love....a little humour....a little mystery. I found this book to be a definite page-turner. Very easy and enjoyable to read. I am certainly anxious for the sequel. I'm going to miss these people in the meantime.
