Introduction by Federico Romano
Letters from Antarctica
is my first novel and the most difficult book I've ever written. The plot came to my mind 4 years ago, it took a lot of time to build the characters and their movements inside of story, because I wanted nothing to be left to chance. When I realized that everything fit perfectly I wrote the book in little more '4 months.4 years and 4 months. Casuality? I don't know.I just remember that when I came to write the last page of the book I felt the need 'of music . The book was full of it, so I came up with the idea of looking for some musician who was able to accentuate the emotions of the book and express them through another form of art. Max Cottica read and reread the book and was able to express in music all the emotions of the story. Indurance is his new band, a mix of ambient emotional music conceived and played entirely by him.Lilium is the young Italian singer of Lolamog band who lent his voice: in the intro
, in the outro
(together with Luca Artioli) and in the last two songs Ti Amerò Per Sempre
and
Io Sono Il Silenzio ", the lyrics instead are mine.
The cover of the book was created by Daniel Rolli.
I dedicate this book to all the people I love, to those who have graphically and musically participated in this book, to those who have read my previous works and to my dreams that always whisper to me: Fede never give up !!!!

Jack Wilson was just 1 year old the first time he saw Antartica. His father Tom was part of the British scientific expeditions and often came here to do research. He carried his son, as unfortunately his wife Mary had died during the birth of Jack. Tom had not killed his wife, as her relatives had thought at first. When the situation becomes rather difficult, the husband is always asked if he wants to save the child or his wife, and he did not hesitate: For God's sake, save my wife, I beg you!
Unfortunately, the doctors' interventions had been useless. Mary had closed her eyes almost at the same time Jack had opened them.
So it was that Tom focused totally on his work, taking his son everywhere, trying not to ever miss anything. Sometimes it took a few months to get to Antarctica: everything depended on the type of ship and, above all, on the climate. Sometimes you risked being in the middle of a vortex or a storm and you had to stay several days still in a port before resuming navigation.
The Antarctic Peninsula is located opposite the coasts of South America. It extends from Cape Adams, at the base of the peninsula and overlooking the Weddel Sea, up to the Antarctic Sound ( Antarctic Sound ), a stretch of sea that separates the continent from the Joinville Archipelago. The territory is mainly mountainous, with peaks reaching 2800 meters above sea level. The mountain range that constitutes its structure is considered a continuation of that of the Andes, to which it is joined by a submarine ridge.
Jack that morning, when he saw Antartica, he was having breakfast and distinguished through the glass of the ship those immense snowy peaks: he ran immediately to the stern and was enchanted to watch the ship pass among the blocks of ice; some whale peeked out, almost wanting to greet him. He looked up and saw lot of penguins on the shores, that vision filled his heart with joy: Daddy, Daddy, we're here!
He shouted.
Tom, who was having breakfast, got up and joined his son, hugged him saying: My son, welcome to Antartica
. Jack had his father's dark, deep, expressive eyes, his light brown hair more like his mother's. He was a very intelligent, good child and he spoke little about his mother, maybe it was too small to understand the meaning of death.
When he got out of the ship he ran to meet a seal that
