About this ebook
Across the void formed by two galactic spiral arms, vast forces face each other.
The tenuous Alliance, sixty civilizations united only by fear of invasion, prepare to resist the encroachment of their as-yet unseen enemy, known only as the Creeps.
The Void has become a battleground. Three thousand light years across, and populated by a scattering of ten thousand 'dark' worlds, it is the Alliance's last chance to protect their way of life. Self-destructive, robotic drones pour across the Void in ever-increasing numbers, testing the Alliance fleets to breaking point.
In the midst of the surging tides of war, a single cruiser carries an incursion team between the dark worlds, striking at the advancing enemy as it establishes footholds. The team probes for a weakness that might be exploited before the odds become overwhelming.
But will Commander Trenn and her misfit squad of mixed-race marines be able to make enough of a difference, and can they hope to uncover the enemy's plans for galactic domination before the Alliance falls?
Maybe they can—if they can stop fighting each other for long enough...

About the Author
Chapter 1
Melea Sale sat in the cockpit of the team's transport ship and gazed out at the vast wasteland that surrounded her. She watched as the ruins of a once beautiful planet stretched out before her. She felt a pang of sadness at all the splendor the Creeps had destroyed. She wondered how the Creeps had managed to ruin such a picturesque world. Once a popular tourist destination, the planet was now covered with jagged rocks, debris, and swirling sand.
She pointed the spacecraft at the nastiest storm cloud on the horizon and punched the throttle. As they approached the storm, she could tell she had her work cut out for her. She gripped the control stick, her fingers tightening as she entered a maelstrom of sand and wind that threatened to tear her ship apart. Amidst the sound of rumbling engines, she could smell the sharp scent of metal and taste the pungent tang of exhaust fumes. She could almost feel the grit sandblasting against the ship's exterior with all the noise it was making. Hopefully she wouldn't need to request a fresh coat of paint when they got back to the cruiser. Looking out of the canopy was almost useless. She had to rely on her instruments to navigate through the churning chaos. The cockpit was a flurry of activity as Melea focused intently on the control panel in front of her. She whipped her head from one gauge to another, adjusted controls, and flipped switches.
Wheels down in five!
Sale spoke over the intercom. Her voice popped and crackled as the storm wreaked havoc with the carrier’s electrics.
This piece of junk’s got no wheels,
Alden muttered to anyone who might be interested. No one answered. The rest of the squad clung tightly to their straps. The sixty-year-old troop carrier barreled through the violent stratosphere. Probably fall to bits any second now,
he said.
Secure that shit!
Commander Trenn shouted across the narrow bay.
Alden couldn’t see the commander over the droid’s netting, but her bellow was unmistakable. How in the Arms of Wynn had she heard him over the noise of the ship shaking itself to pieces?
Because, you idiot, you’re still sending—to everyone!
Her voice rang inside his head like a bell. Alden hastily tapped his right ear, muttering graphic curses involving grenades and body cavities. He sank lower in his seat. Wolf,
he muttered in a low voice. My name’s Wolf!
He listened for the commander’s scornful reply, but his mind was silent—aside from the ever-present seething anger. He aimed a kick at the hunk of junk for not severing their link before dust-off. The dull clang was lost beneath a crash
