    About the Author

    DEDICATION

This novella is dedicated to my girl Maureen Smith, for editing this project for me. You rock!

    Chapter 1

    It’s not kinky enough.

Meghan Reese brought the receiver closer to her ear. What do you mean it’s not kinky enough?

I mean you’ve gotta spice up your story. Plain old romance just doesn’t cut it anymore. Women want to hear it is okay to fuck more than one man in the same week. Hell, the same night, said Delores Hammond, her literary agent of five long years. Meghan, it’s a good thing you asked me to read this before you handed it in to Gina, because she would have rejected your proposal.

Damn. Executive editor Gina Davis was definitely not someone Meghan wanted to disappoint.

For instance, in paragraph two, you wrote, ‘He rubbed his hard length against her warm channel before easing inside.’ Meghan, girl, why the hell can’t you just say, ‘He rubbed his dick against her wet folds before plunging deep inside her heat?’

Damn, thought Meghan. Delores’ words turned her on. Because I don’t think like that. I had a hard enough time writing the proposal as it is. She let out a frustrated groan, wondering why she couldn’t come up with anything as explicit as Delores had suggested.

Listen to me, Meghan. If you want this contract, you’ve gotta bring it and bring it hard! Write about masturbating, oral sex, or better yet a woman sexing two men at the same time. You’ve got to make Gina want to run home, and either pull out her dildo, or fuck her man stupid.

Delores, I don’t know, Meghan said with uncertainty. She’d neither the desire nor the nerve to even think of sleeping with two men. Damn, her life was pathetic.

You’ve got until Friday to write it hot. I gotta run, but I know you can do it!

Meghan hung up the phone and dropped her head onto the desk. Now what? She had been writing the same type of all-American romance novels for the past five years, but sales were down, and Bynum Publishing was phasing out their soft romance lines and moving to more sensual imprints. According to Delores, Meghan now had to get with the program and stop writing novels that only her grandmother would read, otherwise she ran a strong risk of not having her contract renewed. The problem was, she couldn’t even read an erotic novel without blushing, so how in the hell was she supposed to write one?

    You can do this.

Of course she could. She was a multi-published author after all, and that meant she had a vivid imagination.

Swinging around in her chair, Meghan quickly opened the file to her latest romance novel, Seduced, then scrolled down to the first love scene. Sitting up straighter in her chair, she put her slender fingers on the keyboard, ready for an idea to emerge.

Five minutes passed and she was still sitting there, tapping her fingertips on the keys as she waited for the sizzle and heat to explode from her brain. Ten more minutes and still nothing. The little bit of hope she’d had suddenly fizzled.

Not ready to accept defeat, Meghan took a deep breath and decided to try a different approach—working with what she already had. She read over a couple of paragraphs, hoping to find one or two she could rework. Then all she would have to do was add a few sizzling words, and she just might be able to pull this off after all.

Unfortunately, what she read was so boring her eyelids grew heavy, and the next thing she knew, she was falling asleep. Completely frustrated, Meghan considered scanning the Help Wanted ads. If all else failed, she could probably land a job writing articles for her grandmother’s favorite publication, Prevention Magazine.

Rising from her chair, she left her office and headed into a small kitchen at the back of the condominium. A cup of peppermint tea was in order. Hopefully it would relax her enough that her brain would start functioning properly.

She removed a tea bag from a small canister near the stove, then reached for a mug and filled it with water. While she heated her water in the microwave, Meghan tried to think of a plan of attack. Maybe the problem was that she was trying too hard and not allowing the ideas to come naturally.

Or maybe you need to accept the truth, an inner voice said. A woman couldn’t possibly write about something she wasn’t getting.

    D-I-C-K.

Meghan leaned against the granite counter and stared out the window, which overlooked a lake dotted with several sailboats. A cool, gentle breeze drifted through the window screen. It was typical June weather for Chicago.

Meghan sighed. Why couldn’t she write about a couple sailing away aboard a private yacht along Lake Michigan, making love in a lavish stateroom, performing oral sex and reaching multiple orgasms?

She frowned at the thought, because the answer was too obvious. She knew nothing about making love aboard a yacht. Her sexual experience involved two college relationships. The first lasted all of five minutes. The second lasted three minutes longer. She remembered waiting for that magical feeling her roommate always talked about, but it never came. All she’d done was lay there, wondering if what she’d just experienced was really all there was to sex.

The microwave’s timer went off, and Meghan turned away from the window with another heavy sigh. For someone who had little to no sexual experience, her friends always wondered how she had ended up writing romance novels.

She’d earned a master’s degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing. After class one afternoon, her instructor had passed out flyers from a new publishing house that was seeking romance writers. After reading it, Meghan had been surprised to discover that romance was the largest selling genre in the world, and one of the easiest to jump into. After reviewing the submission guidelines for Bynum Publishing’s new imprints, she’d decided the safest was American Girl—girl meets guy but doesn’t sleep with guy until they’re married. It was ideal for a writer with very little sexual experience.

Bringing her mug to her lips, Meghan scowled. Now, after five years, her publisher had decided to discontinue the line due to low sales figures, and instead concentrate on the steamier imprints that, according to her agent, were selling like hotcakes.

Meghan knew Delores was right. She needed to write a story that made a woman’s nipples hard.

    And her panties wet.

Meghan carried her mug over to the small round kitchen table and took a seat. For the longest time, she sat there trying to think of something else she was good at. Writing romance was all she knew. If she couldn’t pull it off, then what was she going to do with her life?

You can always become a nurse like your mother.

    She scowled at that idea.

Her parents had raised her to believe there was no such thing as can’t. They told her many times that she could do anything she set her mind to. And sure enough, that included writing. All it took was a wild imagination, and she definitely had that.

    Well, kind of, she amended.

Now all she needed was a change of environment, some research material and maybe some new dick in her life. She didn’t have the slightest idea where to begin, but her lips curled in a confident smile because she knew exactly who to ask.

    Chapter 2

She had never been so embarrassed in her life.

Meghan, what in the world are you waiting for?

Startled, Meghan’s eyes traveled over to where her best friend and roommate, Ava James, was standing next to a rack of…ohmygoodness! Are those vibrators?

Catching her stricken expression, Ava moved over to where Meghan was standing, grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the door.

    Patricia’s Pleasure Palace.

Oh, boy. This was the first time she’d ever been in an adult store before. Nervously, she nibbled her bottom lip as her eyes darted from left to right. Ava, how about I wait in the car while you pick—

Uh-uh, her roommate intoned, pulling Meghan along with her to the video section of the store. You need this, not me. I already got a man with a big cock and a box of toys for back-up.

Glancing around the store caused heat to warm Meghan’s cheeks. Yes, but I don’t think this is what I had in mind.

Sure it is, Ava said as she retrieved a shopping cart. Watch yourself a couple of videos and experiment with some of these toys, and you’ll be so damn horny you’ll have more than enough information for your book.

Okay, then pick something for me so we can get out of this store.

Ava shook her head. "Nope. I want you to explore these racks. How can you write about stuff you’ve never seen? she asked, then sighed and released her hold on Meghan’s forearm. Okay, start here. When you come across a title that makes your nipples hard, then you’ll know that’s the one you want to watch."

What good is that gonna do me?

Blue eyes sparkling with amusement, Ava replied, You’ll be so hot, you’ll be dying for something long, hard and preferably at least eight inches to ride.

Meghan grew red with embarrassment. Ava could be so loud and blunt at times, but she loved her friend dearly and wouldn’t change a thing about her.

"While you look at the movies, I’m going to
