    STUD SEDUCTION

    RUGGED RODEO COWBOYS BOOK 2

    COWBOY ROMANCE

    BY GRACE HEARTSONG

    STUD SEDUCTION

M iss Sinnet? The limo driver approached Alyssa as she struggled, dragging her two larger than normal suitcases out of the airport.

Yes, are you my driver? Alyssa asked, but was already handing off one of the suitcases. Even if he wasn't her driver he could help her haul her luggage to where it needed to go.

Yes, ma'am, the elderly man smiled. Right this way. Let me get that for you.

Thank you. She sighed in relief giving over control of her second suitcase to him.

First time in Texas? He asked as he loaded her suitcases into the limo.

"Yes, sent here instead of Hawaii. I should have been covering the surf competition again, but the editor gave that assignment to his new girlfriend."

Ah, so you're here to cover what? He asked, opening her door.

The Delago Rodeo. Alyssa sighed as images of dusty roads and dirty men came into her head. She had considered looking into nose plugs if she had to go into the stables at any point in the summer, but had forgotten to do so when it came time to pack.

Ah, I know Delago. Joe Brooks is a good man. His wife started that rodeo from the ground up. She was quite the rider. Never a met a bull she couldn't hold onto, and Old Joe's a stubborn bull if I ever met one. He winked.

    A woman started the rodeo?

Yes, it was always her dream. She was something of a small time star around here. Joe was her finanical backer and over the years he grew to love it too. Never gets on the bulls though. I think he doesn't want to test his luck. Although he does that every day with those kids of his. His wife died of breast cancer awhile back and left him to finish raising their five kids. Most of them are grown now except for the youngest who is just old enough to start getting into real trouble. I'd watch out for the twins though if I were you. Neither of those boys can resist a pretty girl. From what I've heard they've broken more than one heart.

Well, my heart isn't up for grabs. I'm here to cover the rodeo, not the cowboys.

"Ah, but Miss Sinnet, the cowboys are the rodeo." The driver chuckled.

Alyssa thought the driver was likable enough for an old man who had presumably spent his life driving other people around. She thought it would be a lonely life, but at the moment her compassion only extended to herself. At twenty-seven, she thought she'd be happily married and living it up on her favorite beach in Hawaii. She had always hoped to move there permenantly after covering the annual surfing competition for the past three years. Instead, she was twice divorced and recently dumped by the editor of her magazine for a younger, blonder, perkier woman. If the money hadn't been so good at the magazine she would have walked away in a heartbeat, but truth be told she'd rather put up with her ex and her replacement than face the prospect of living a life of less.

The driver fell quiet as they left the busy city streets and turned onto the highway. Cars zipped pass in a hurry to get nowhere. Where could they be going in Texas after all? She'd give her right arm to back in Boston right now. Or the surf competition in Hawaii. Soon the driver turned off the highway and onto a dirt road. Alyssa cringed at the idea of walking in her good heels across the dirt and yuck.

I should have brought my rain boots. She muttered.

I doubt you'll need them. Some folks say climate change is all in our heads, but I tell ya what, Miss Sinnet, we've been getting less and less rain every year for the last forty.

How do you keep the dust off of everything?

You don't. Stick around long enough and you won't notice it as much.

    I doubt that.

I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. I attended a wedding last fall of the eldest Brooks’ son. He married a city girl from New York. She ain't the first I've heard of either. There's something about a cowboy most women can't resist.

Then why aren't you a cowboy?

My husband and I would both rather women are able to resist us. He chuckled.

    Oh, I'm sorry. Alyssa blushed.

Don't go blushin' about it. You didn't know.

Soon the Delago Ranch was in sight. It was bigger than she expected, a large house dominating the view in the distance. Close to the house were several larger houses and smaller ones, as well as a few barns and stables.

This is the main office. I believe this is where your editor said Ms. Brooks would meet you.

Yes, thank you. Would you mind waiting here until I find out where I'm going to be staying? I don't want to drag my suitcases through any more dust than I have to.

Of course, Miss Sinnet. I always bring a book for these occasions.

Alyssa let herself out of the limo and walked to the door of the front office. It was a medium sized stone building that looked cleaner than she had expected. There was no one behind the front desk so she took a seat and tried to appear patient.

At least they have air conditioning, Alyssa said to herself. It was only nine in the morning, but the Texas heat was already beating on her skin and it wasn't nearly as pleasant as the Hawaii sun. Although she had to admit Hawaii's sun was more manageable with the beaches, drinks, and not to mention the sexy surfers and locals that made the trip worth her while every summer.

The door swung open, letting in a hot gush of air. She turned her head expecting to see Jamie Brooks, the woman she had spoken with on the phone. Instead it was a man clad in jeans, black cowboy boots with a matching hat and t-shirt. His body might not resemble the sleek water toned body of a surfer, but it wasn't anything to scoff at. The newcomer had wide shoulders that gave way to strong arms. His black t-shirt clung to his chest and abs. His hat hid most of his dark hair, but allowed her to meet his smoldering grey-eyed gaze.

Miss Sinnet? He asked as she stood up.

Yes, I'm supposed to meet Jamie Brooks here this morning.

    "My sister's dog
