    A Note from Savanna:

IF YOU ARE A FAN OF country music, stubborn men being brought to their knees and feisty women finding their softer side then you will fall in love with book two in the Peach Logic series.

I grew up on country music in the heart of corn country – Illinois. I have the fondest memories of attending the county fairs and seeing the likes of the Oak Ridge Boys, the Gatlin Brothers, Kenny Rogers, and so many more perform.

Today, the county fairs are still just as fun.

Small towns are little dots on the map full of amazing people with huge hearts. Whether you stay or go, the sense of community never leaves you.

We could all do with a little more peach logic.

    XXXOOO,

    Savanna

    Chapter One

OH, MYm God! Do you smell that? Jesse Alston swung her long, currently red highlighted hair behind her shoulders as she bounced in front of her counterparts.

D! Come on, man. Beau frowned at his bandmate. Seriously? You have got to beb the most...

Hey! It wasn’t me. I didn’t do anything...this time. Dalton Gentry, member number three of the country music trio Peach Logic, smirked at his friends.

I was referring to the smell of corndogs and candy apples, you baboons. Jesse rolled her eyes heavenward. I can’t take you anywhere, can I?

It only took a shared glance for both Beau and Dalton to raise their arms where their hands were scratching their sides and elbows raised dangling at their armpits. They circled Jesse as they grunted and hollered.

You know what happens when you encourage them, Jess. They’re already stir crazy from being on the bus for such an extended amount of time. Letting them loose at the fair...well, maybe we should put a leash on them. Lacey watched as Beau and Dalton continued to jump around Jesse like monkeys.

Okay! I’ll buy your food if you will just stop drawing attention to us. We don’t want a mob at the food truck. I’d rather not be photographed as I chow down on fair food. Next thing you know, I’ll have an eating disorder if the media has anything to say about it.

The boys stopped their shenanigans and grinned.

Works like a charm every time. When’s the last time we paid for food, Beau?

Ouch! That hurt. You’re going to bruise the merchandise, baby. Dalton rubbed his forearm where Lacey had socked him.

It’s technically my merchandise, so if you behave, I might give you a rub down later, but only if you are a really, really good boy,, Lacey teased her fiancée.

But, I thought you liked it when I was really, really bad, honey? Don’t go changing the rules on me now.

Unless you both want to wear my regurgitated corn dog, I suggest you stop talking. Now,, Jesse threatened.

You are so adorable when you turn green,, Beau teased.

The group approached a food stand with a bright flashing marquee that touted the best funnel cakes and vinegar fries around. Just to the right of the stand was a small crowd surrounding what appeared to be a cowboy given his choice of wardrobe.

His button-down, long-sleeve shirt with embroidered sleeves, his dusty jeans and well-worn boots, and – Jesse paused in mid-perusal. That face made her miss-step. His chiseled chin, dark hair, and deep brown eyes caught her off guard. The way his black Stetson hat tilted just right on his head, shadowing his face, partially projected an allure about him. His stance was confident. His smile cocked sideways as he signed something for a little girl that squealed with excitement.

As Jesse and the rest of the band reached the stand, the cowboy looked up. His grin changed into a predatory smirk when he met Jesse’s eyes.

Well, hello there, beautiful. What’s your name? What can I sign for you today? His arrogance stiffened Jesse’s spine as she turned her gaze fully upon him.

Green fire met his dark chocolate glance as she responded.

You can sign the bill, but I warn you, these guys eat a whole lot more than I do, so don’t say you haven’t been warned. Her lips pursed. She turned to step up and order food.

Hey, darlin’.darlin’ No offense intended. I thought you were in line for an autograph, he,h offered.

Jesse glanced back over her shoulder to where the man was not only looking at her but conducting his own full assessment of her from head to toe.

"The only thing I am here for, darlin’, is a corn dog. Now if you will excuse us, we are on a tight schedule." Sarcasm sharp as the October wind dripped from her words.

Jess ordered her corn dog and added a funnel cake to test out the claimed famous recipe.

    What? shes questioned Lacey defensively.

Lacey held up her hands in retreat.

Nothing. Nothing at all. Just don’t complain to me when you’re bloated and uncomfortable in your leather skirt.

Don’t you need to put a bib on Dalton or something? SheS playfully stuck her tongue out at her friend.

The rest of them ordered their fair favorites.favouritesfavorites. Jesse made to pay for their goodies, but Beau wouldn’t let her. He stepped in front of her and pulled out his wallet, taking care of the bill.

The boys might tease and act like jerks, but they were pretty good guys. They just liked to keep people guessing.

Grab extra napkins, B. I know I’m going to end up with mustard down my front. It always happens,, Jesse complained.

Jesse eyed picnic tables that were sheltered under an awning off to the side of the major foot traffic.

Do we chance it? Her eyebrows raised as she tilted her head toward the tables. Maybe one in the back row won’t be noticeable? she asked hopefully.

Jesse, honey, when have you ever been unnoticeable? Beau teased, but he was right. The chancesc of the Peach Logic trio not being recognized were highly unlikely, especially since they were in their home state of Georgia.

I’m game if you are. We can always take shelter in the food truck if things get out of hand. I think that guy would do anything if you fluttered your eyelashes at him,, Dalton joined in the tease fest.

Jesse chose a table in the corner, partially shaded. Twilight had set in, so shadows filtered through the fairground.

RemindRemind me again, Lace, why do I put up with them?

Lacey straddled the bench beside her. Well, only because they can sing and write music. Otherwise, they’d probably still be eating beanie weenies on Beau’s couch in his garage.

Hey, don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it. Dalton was chowing down on vinegar fries.

That’s about as bad as beerios. Jess shook her head inin disgust.

Again, I’m pretty sure we could have been on one of the food networks with some of our early creations. Who doesn’t need to know how to eat on a budget? Beau asked, his eyes lighting with merriment.

Across the way, the group was unaware they were being watched.

Austen Taylor continued to sign autographs, sneaking glances over at the woman who had just snubbed him. What she lacked in personality, she certainly made up for in looks. He’d give her that. Her hair reminded him of a fine red wine, silky and smooth. Her tight jean skirt hugged a set of curvy, tempting hips that teased a man with every step.

His friend, Jake, stepped up beside him.

Man, do you know who that was?

Austen lifted his tilted head to look at his friend.

Who? he asked, signing the last autograph.

Who? Is that how you’re going to play it? Jake smirked, his smile twisting upward. The pretty little filly you can’t keep your eyes off. That’s who.

Austen glanced glanced back over at the woman and her group of friends. She did look vaguely familiar, but he couldn’t place her. Had he met her at a previous rodeo?

Okay. I’ll bite. No. Who is she?

Dude! That’s Jesse Alston of Peach Logic. Where have you been? You just got snubbed by one of the hottest entertainers out there. Didn’t think I’d ever see that happen.

Shock registered on Austen’s face at Jake’s revelation. Seriously? Damn it. He’d never hear the end of it. Just wait ‘til the crew heard.

Hell, he doubted he wanted any part of that. By the way she’d behaved, she was obviously her own biggest fan.

I’d say I made a narrow escape then. Divas aren’t my style. He tucked the Sharpie marker in his back pocket. Come on. I’ve got a bull to ride.

As Austen passed by the picnic tables, he looked directly at Jesse and tipped his hat, his lips curled.

Did you see that? What did that look mean? Jesse quipped.

I don’t know, but he hadn’t taken his eyes off you the entire time we have been sitting here. I’d say he had more on his mind than whatever it is he’s doing here,, Lacey chimed in.

He’s probably part of the show tonight – at leastleast from the look of him and the fact that he was signing what appeared to be autographs. Do you know who he was, D?

Nope. Not a clue. Checking out guys isn’t really my thing.

But if it had been a woman, then what? Lacey’s downward tilt of her head and raised eyebrows questioned Dalton.

He jumped up and threw his trash away. Coming around the table, his arms circled Lacey from behind.

You know I only have eyes for you, sweetheart. He kissed the side of her neck just below her earlobe.

There goes my corn dog churning. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Jesse made a show of clutching her midriff.

    Laughter filled the air
