About this ebook

Athens in the end of July, was very hot. Catherine, a fourty-two year old woman, woke up late. She packed her stuff and checked out of the hotel in a hurry. Moments later, she raised her hand for a taxi. The driver stopped the taxi and got out of the car. The following heart-pounding experience would make this flight totally irrelevant in her mind

Why people read nice inspiring books, go to seminars, follow guides but still, they feel something is missing? Why do we still have unspoken negative feelings from time to time? The reason is because we never dealt with the cause. We may listen to nice words, self-realization, self-awareness, but without the cause, without true knowledge we will instantly lose focus and forget everything we heard.

Why repeat the same mistakes?

In this first part of the book, the Citizen reveals the "Octopus Phenomenon." A Phenomenon that will shake our beliefs and change rapidly the direction of our lives. And for the first time, you can decode any relationship, any situation, any human being, including yourself........................

Luminous Eternal Angels part one, is a book aiming at lifting the veil between yourself and the true reason of any experience you encounter in real life, by making Philosophy practical even for an early teenager. Self-help that really works!!! Based on a true story...

The Citizen

He IS "him." He IS "her." He IS everyone. When you fight. When you ARE the lion. When you avoid fight, when you avoid Love, when you avoid to offer, everyone becomes the small white sheep of our story. The Citizen is "the guy next door." Not a superhero. Not someone from outer space. Instead of looking for Guides, become the Guide of your life!!! Opportunities are EVERYWHERE. Literally in front of us. But with a catch. We see them ONLY when we are ready to embrace them. If we don't, we have to keep searching.

Luminous Eternal Angels - The Citizen

    A short Prelude...

THIS TWO-PART BOOK has a very high goal. To bring Philosophy literally to the masses.

Even early teenagers should be able to decode any Philosophy book. And understanding in Philosophy means one thing only: APPLY. Philosophy is ONLY practical. It applies in every single action of our lives.

So, in this first part of the book, we will highlight the missing elements from all the suggestions we take in our educational system. We may listen to Be good, nice, polite, sincere, but practice in everyday life fails and we know that because every now and then, negative thoughts come and visit us.

If a suggestion is not practical when the fire rages, then indeed we miss something. In order to see this clearly, we will navigate through many social situations. If we see the big image, it will be easier to bring the results to our small home world.

After that, we will acknowledge how the negative situations come to us and most importantly, in which way they affect us in the long term. Mechanisms of defence will be used to counter the effects. And because people -depending on their personality- may prefer to use one mechanism or the other, we unveil as many as possible. It is of the utmost importance to learn to work with no external help and this will be highlighted in both parts of the book.

Because, even if we get direct advice for the situation we face, it all remains to following advices. While this is not bad, an advice never gets to the cause. We may read nice inspiring books, go to seminars or follow guides, but all situations are virtues related. If we can't analyse any situation through virtues, negative thoughts/feelings will come again and again.

We need to know WHY this situation has occurred and cure the cause, not the symptoms. And the real cause are virtues and the effect they have on understanding a situation. The symptom, is the situation itself. If we deal with the situation only, the same virtues, us, will find another chance to bring us another difficult situation. And because the next situation (symptom) is most of the times different than the previous, we will not be able to discern the common root. Why repeat the same mistakes?

By unveiling the real cause behind each incident, you will achieve the (previously) unthinkable: You will become the guide of your life!!! From now on, no situation will remain in the shadows. When the highlight is complete and we realise that we miss many things to communicate correctly, the next step is to acquire a tool to practice well the missing elements.

The jewel of this book is undoubtedly the Octopus Phenomenon. This Phenomenon, explains why Philosophy works couldn’t be deconstructed until now and what we have to do in order to encounter that successfully.

After the Octopus Phenomenon chapter, we try to unravel all of its secrets: How it is connected with human beings, how it is connected with the situations we face, how it affects us through our current educational system. And even more. Why we can’t see it and how it blends in objects, in beings and in our thoughts.

Finally, we are presented with 3 more tools that are used for comprehension of this restless Phenomenon. These tools can make the difference and need very careful study.

Though many tools* are given already in the first part and one may think that nothing more is needed, this is not true. Because every tool must be placed and used correctly. Like the tools in a garage. Furthermore, to extract the very best from these tools, we should also analyse them as careful as possible. This is the goal of the second part**. To deconstruct every meaning involved in this procedure so you can study and practice Philosophy as soon as you finish reading!!!

With both parts read, we will be able:

    A) To analyse our thoughts to understand what they mean for us.

    B) To analyse accordingly our actions (because any action requires a thought first).

    C) To analyse other people and social relationships.

    D) To analyse situations. For example what it means (for us) to go to a basketball game or in a birthday party. What is the real reason I do it?

    E) By knowing all aforementioned thoughts/actions and their consequences, we are now (for the first time) able to choose our destination in life. Where we really want to go.

    F) After choosing our direction, we are able to start improving ourselves and as a consequence,

    G) We will start to have control of ourselves. Situations that previously troubled us a lot, will not be able to affect us any more.

All in all, will be able to know:

WHY I bought this book and what it means for me,

WHY I choose this genre of books and not another,

WHY I am with this boyfriend/girlfriend and what this means for me,

HOW to recognise and send away negative thinking,

WHY I studied this field and

WHAT I try to express through my job,

HOW to recognise and improve my social relationships,

HOW to achieve something which I previously thought as impossible.

Lastly, we must point out that a Philosophy book*** (and by Philosophy we cover also all modern books related to self-help) does not resemble any other book of any genre. The difference is that instead of reading, it needs careful studying. As it is revealed through the Octopus Phenomenon, even one book can be studied for decades because as we evolve, we embrace a deeper meaning year after year.

‘πάντα χωρεῖ καὶ οὐδὲν μένει’ (Heraclitus, as found in Plato’s dialogue Cratylus, 402a. ‘Everything is in motion, nothing stays the same’).

I wish all the Citizens of this beautiful planet to have a clear mind, thirst for knowledge and to be guided by Love for every action in their lives.

    The unexpected is for everyone

IT WAS A QUARTER TO seven in the morning and the alarm clock was still ringing.

    Ooh no.

I went directly to the bathroom for a fast shower.

I always do that, why am I always late?

I got out of the bathroom as fast as I could, dressed up, packed my stuff and headed straight to the hotel's reception. I checked out and moments later, I was looking for a taxi. I raised my hand, but immediately I backed off.

    I'm not going like this.

The taxi was not clean and as it came closer, I noticed the open windows.

    No way.

In the end of July, Athens was hot for me even in the morning. I had to get an air-conditioned taxi. I fondly recalled the winters of North California. After all, winter is my favourite part of the year.

I realised there was no more time. Fortunately, a clean taxi was coming and the driver seemed to have high standards.

I raised my hand again. The taxi driver stopped and a moment later, got my luggage and put it into the trunk. He opened my door and said, Good morning my lady.

A young and cheerful man smiled at me. I couldn't resist but smile with him. It wasn't attraction. It was something else. His whole face was glowing with joy when he looked at me. It was interest -yes, that's the correct word- but a rather peculiar interest, something I had never experienced before. It was unique. And next month, I was going to be forty-three.

"Can I still have surprises at this age?" I wondered.

I thought I had already felt all the feelings one could have.

Catherine: To the airport please, I said.

Taxi driver: Of course, my lady.

I wanted to find a way to start a conversation with him, but I found myself at a loss for words from his genuine way of interaction. And his moves. He got my luggage, opened the trunk, then my door, he got on the other side of the car, all in a blink of an eye. He put his seatbelt on and started driving. While all this was very fast, he had a certain grace in his moves, nothing I’d ever seen before.

He could be a dancer working for a living, I thought. His fingers were already flying on the tablet's keyboard.

T: My lady, since the price to the airport for this area is fixed by the Ministry of Transportation, I will take you by the highway which is faster and safer, unless you want to use a specific road for some reason. There is too much traffic ahead.

    C: Thank you very much.

T: By the way, where do you come from?

C: I come from the States, California.

T: Oh, I've heard that’s a very large and interesting State to say the least.

    C: Yes, it is.

I replied almost like a shy puppy. His movements impressed me. They showed strong will and power, experience, but still...he was so elegant...suddenly I had this weird thought...he acts like he loves this car...or loves what he does? He turned to me and his eyes focused onto my eyes like a tight grip.

With a round smile on his face, he said politely, If you left in a hurry and you are thirsty, I have water, soda and three kinds of juice for free! Don't be shy to ask.

My Psychology studies and knowledge of body language alerted me. I'm pretty sure that he raised his voice a little bit in the last phrase. It was like giving an order I couldn't resist.

Still...I was thirsty, but I didn't notice it as I checked out in a hurry...How can one impose himself and at the same time being utterly kind?

C: Actually, I drink only cold water.

T: Oh, great, there you go my lady.

He took a chilled bottle of water out of a small refrigerator, which was sitting between the two front seats. I hadn't noticed it before.

T: I have provisioned for all kinds of drinks, because not all people drink the same.

He smiled again. I smiled too. Am I flattered? I quickly ignored the last thought. He waited for me to open the bottle and drink. Suddenly, with a move of his right hand -while he was driving- he turned on a ten-inch tablet. I hadn't noticed that as well, as it was black, like the leather seat in front of me.

    C: Wow. Awesome!

Colourful photographs started to pop up as a slideshow started.

T: And so you don't get bored until we get to the airport, there you go my lady!

    I couldn't help but smile.

C: This is the best taxi in the world!

T: Oh, you haven't seen all taxi drivers, you don't know that.

C: Yes, but from those I have seen and I have seen a lot, you provide the very best service by a large margin.

T: "Oh, by the way, if you
