INTRODUCTION
Bath Bombs And Their Many Benefits
I love bath bombs. Just drop 1 into the tub and watch it fizz and release its nutritive and aromatic ingredients. With bath bombs, bath time becomes pleasurable, relaxing and of course, cleansing. Adults love the fragrance, visual appeal and the beautiful gifts they make. Additionally, kids enjoy the fascination and fun that comes with making and using these bombs.
But what exactly are bath bombs? They are hard-packed mixtures of natural chemicals and scents. Bath bombs are intended to fizz once they come in contact with water. The fizzing is due to the carbon dioxide produced when the alkaline sodium bicarbonate commonly called baking soda reacts with the citric acid in the water.
The result is an aromatic bath water and a moisturized skin. It is not all about the fizz though. Bath bombs are therapeutic due to the type of oils that were utilized in its production. For instance, lavender has been used for thousands of years as a mild sedative which help to reduce stress, anxiety and induce restful sleep. Thus lavender oil as a bomb bath ingredient is a natural de-stressor.
There are other advantages to making and using bath bombs such as:
1. They are easy and fun to make.
2. They are all natural as you get to combine your own ingredients. Commercial bombs contain lots of hidden ingredients that are not really good for the skin. An example of this is Sodium Laurel Sulphite. While this ingredient will give you nice bubbles, it can burn the skin in its raw state.
3. They guarantee a smooth and soft skin. Since they are packed with massage oils, they provide additional moisture that will give you that enviable glow.
4. They will keep you smelling nice and feeling fresh. Bath bombs are rich in fragrance. When you use it, the fragrance will be felt in your bathroom and its surrounding environments and the scents will also stay with you for several days.
5. They are affordable −you get to save up to half of the cost of commercial bath bombs.
