About this ebook

The purpose of La Paz is to lay out the techniques and readings that have afforded a great deal of Peace for me. Having arrived at that high level of Peace to which we all aspire, the gateway to Mystical experiences are then opened up. My prayer is that the reader will gain everything I have, and more. Mysticism is truly a high goal, and, should the Spirit grant, it is a truly life altering union.

    Morphing

    By Marcel Graves

Provoked by a meditation exercise while attending university:

    Swoosh!

I am become a rose growing in a clear cut on the side of a mountain.

Perfectly content and at peace…ahhh, life is so pleasant here.

    Explosively, suddenly,

I am morphed into a white dove in flight,

heading west over the mountains to I know not where.

Sadly, the episode ended as abruptly as it had begun, and I was a student back in class.

Not a daydream nor a vision,

    This was a real experience.

It has had a more profound effect on my life than is explicable.

Roses, mountains, clear-cuts and all sorts of birds have held deeper meanings for me ever since.

    LA PAZ

    (PEACE IN SPANISH)

    Chapter 1

    In the Beginning

    Where do I start?

My life has been smooth, all things considered. Like many people, I had a crazy youth that doesn’t require further details other than to say it was out of control but within legal limits. You see, I’m an alcoholic. My worst attempt at peace of mind involved a serious abuse of alcohol.

In the next stage, life became normal for several years but eventually, I again found myself well off the path. The path that I am speaking of is akin to the straight and narrow roadway to righteousness. By righteousness I do not mean self-righteousness but rather a state of being right with ourselves, others and God. Naturally, this state of being leads to peace of mind.

Undoubtedly, the easiest route to peace of mind is on the path rather than off. At least that’s been my experience, having tried both, and simple is best. Being off the path led to all manner of problems that ruined any chances of peace of mind until there was an enormous change. Thank God, that change has occurred, at least as of today; I realize now that could change at any moment should I choose to make the wrong decision. My overindulgence in alcohol, I believe, was the result of being dissatisfied with the way my life was heading. I would have to say that this is the case for using any mind-altering substances: a dissatisfaction with what’s in the mirror. Besides, life is tricky enough without diminishing our intellectual capabilities.

I’m writing this to document for myself and anyone else who has read this far, how I went about finding peace. I describe what I mean by peace in Chapter 2. Although the process seemed arduous at times, the results have proven to be worth the effort. Peace after all, in my humble opinion, is what we want to attain even though we go about trying to attain it in all the wrong ways. We find that popularity is not the way to peace; nevertheless, when we are at peace, others gravitate towards us because they want to know how we obtained such peacefulness. This peaceful condition shows up in our aura even when others cannot see auras; they subconsciously feel a certain attraction towards us. We cannot hide a lamp under our bushel baskets.

La Paz is merely a primer and certainly will not end your journey; rather, it is meant to be a beginning. From here your path towards peace is in your hands with the help of the Spirit. I say the Spirit because He is the true guide and teacher if we will but listen. I am merely a messenger who proclaims that peace is attainable. This book describes the method I was given.

Should you think that you need not concern yourself with matters of the Spirit or that you have a spiritual nature that is good enough,
