Chapter One

Once Noah Smithson passed the ‘Welcome to Pinerock Valley’ sign, it felt easier to breathe. He didn’t know what called him home. Okay, he knew. Losing his high-paying position as a junior associate in a major-league law firm in the city was one of the reasons.

Without steady income to rely on and with student loans to pay, Noah had to leave behind the extravagant lifestyle he couldn’t afford. He worked an extra-ordinary amount of hours at the office. The pressure and stress wasn’t good for his heart either.

His former boss seemed to think being a werewolf gave him more stamina. It didn’t. Noah couldn’t explain that being an Omega was just like being human except for two things—Noah could change into a wolf and he could get pregnant.

Being fired was one of the best things that happened to him. He didn’t realize what a mental drain his job was, until he packed all his necessary belongings in two boxes and drove back to his hometown, never looking back.

Oh his mom would be disappointed. Plenty of town folk would probably gossip behind his back. The moment he graduated high school, Noah left town for law school and never regretted his decision. He only came home for Christmas and Thanksgiving. People called him arrogant, prideful. Someone who’d forgotten his humble roots, but none of that was true.
