    About the Author

    Chapter One

Teaching high school wasn’t for everyone, but Bianca felt a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day. She imparted knowledge to the children in her classes that was essential to life, and they respected her and even liked her in many cases. Not many teachers could say that.

Then again, she doubted most teachers took the extra measures she did to make English and Literature fun. In her classes, they didn’t just read the stories, write reports, and take tests. They acted out the plays, discussed what the author might have been thinking or going through, and delved into the psychology of the tales. They wrote their own pieces that reflected the same moods and lessons learned and shared them with the class.

Today had been a particularly good day, the culmination of a long project, and Bianca’s students had been quite satisfied with their results. She felt a great sense of pride as well. They had worked hard and turned in amazing projects. Not a single student deserved less than a B for their efforts. It put her in a phenomenal mood, especially knowing what waited for her after school.

As she finished grading a few papers that she’d had her students complete to satisfy the constraints of the curriculum, she stacked them neatly on the corner of her desk and stood, stretching. It was time to leave. She had to get home and cook dinner for her daughter and her husband, and then she had a meeting with Lenora and Ridley that was apparently a high priority. She wondered what Lenora was so anxious about, but she didn’t think too hard about it. She would find out soon enough.

She checked the time and sighed. She had to hurry if she was going to take care of all of her responsibilities before heading out to the cottage where her coven met. It was actually Lenora’s house, but it also doubled as their House of Magic. And she loved it. It was so rustic and quaint and picturesque for a witch’s home!
