Is it fair to scrutinize Islam?
There was a time in history when violence was the means by which one group of people would dominate other groups and force their social values upon them. But since the advent of democracy we have a better way, in so much as we intelligently debate social issues and, for the sake of peace, go along with what the majority decides. It is not perfect, but on the whole, it works as long as everyone has room to express their opinions and there is acceptance that others have a right to think differently. This, of course, requires freedom and tolerance, as long as these are not abused to hurt others, or cause a breakdown of law and order. Part of the functioning of a healthy democratic system is the right to scrutinize and criticize any ideologies which might threaten that peaceful order. Out of necessity, our political processes must guard against the propagation of ideas and ideals that would harm our society, whether they come from political extremism in the form of fascism or communism, or even liberalism with lack of control over firearms or dangerous drugs, or anywhere else. Everything that affects our society must be watched over and subject to informed debate. Religion cannot be exempt from such scrutiny, history has given us many examples of dangerous cults. Islam, as set of beliefs and rules, is therefore a fair topic for intellectual debate and consideration.
Besides, the Koran verse 4:82 says;
Will they not then ponder on the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah they would have found therein much incongruity.
The Koran thus invites us to carefully consider its content and to look for inconsistencies, contradictions and incorrect statements within it. The use of the plural will they not ponder
implies debate and discussion of the issues it raises. That careful consideration and discussion is exactly what this book is about. Everything written about in this book has been very carefully researched from primary source material, Islamic and non-Islamic. References are given throughout so, if you wish, you can go to this source material and verify it all for yourself.
Having given that careful consideration, everyone thereby has the right to openly agree or disagree with the Koran and other ideas that are fundamental to Islam. This does not imply criticism of individuals, the vast majority of Muslims believe in Islam solely because of their family, social or national background. Besides most of them do not know much of what the Islamic sacred texts really say. Very few followers of Islam have been exposed to open debate about different spiritualties. They know even less about other people's belief systems.
But even in disagreement it is important to treat all individuals with proper respect and dignity without violence or aggression. Hate speech and confrontation help no one, whichever side they come from. Intimidating people to stifle unwelcome opinions only damages our freedom. Even though we have a right to criticise Islam no one should use that an excuse to attack individual Muslims, most of whom are good and caring people.
The contents of this book are a good cause for intellectual discussion, they are not an excuse for violence, which often is only an expression of frustration at having lost an argument. We should talk through our differences. Whatever the subject, a calm informed open dialogue is always the one that establishes the truth.
If you are a Muslim reading this book, we invite you to go through it carefully. The content has been extensively researched so please take it seriously. References to source materials are given throughout so that you can check their content for yourself. Nothing here is intended to cause offence, to mock or deride, yet any reasoned disagreement with Islam must be made plain. Disagreement should not be allowed to give rise to offence. Evidently some of what you read may upset because you may not have previously been told the truth. Perhaps you are a moderate Muslim, it is important you know the truth, and because of that it is important you read the whole book. In particular, we invite you to question what others have said, especially about what the Koran says and how it should be interpreted. Seek truth and wisdom for yourself. It is now very easy to find original source material such as the Koran and Hadiths translated into nearly every language. So, for example, if someone says to you that verses in the Koran should not be interpreted literally then ask where that idea comes from because the Koran itself is clear on this issue, that it should be taken literally. Factual books are normally written to directly communicate a literal meaning to the reader. What evidence is there from Mohammed's own life that the Koran should not be taken on its word? Search out the truth, and it will set you free; free to understand, free to think for yourself, and free from manipulation by others.
PART ONE - Terrorism and Islam
Some facts and figures
Whether or not one follows the news media, all of us know that there is a problem with Islamic terror in the world, yet we still get members of the world's elite, like former President Obama, telling us that Islam is a religion of peace
. More recently still The Pope said that it is not fair to identify Islam with violence and terrorism, it's not fair and not true
, but the following day the Islamic State riposted saying; Islam was never a religion of peace...waging jihad, spreading the rule of Allah by the sword, is an obligation found in the Quran
.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3082114/ISIS-execute-26-civilians-fighters-reach-gates-ancient-Palmyra-Syria.html
Who is right? well let's take look at the facts and figures. In 2015 a survey of terror plots in the USA found that 77% were motivated by an Islamic Caliphate ideology
;-

http://freebeacon.com/national-security/counterterrorism-expert-threat-of-homegrown-terror-has-escalated/
and another study of suicide bombings that year worldwide found that 99.5% of such attacks were carried out by Muslims;

http://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2017/01/06/suicide-terrorism-across-the-globe-hits-record-high-in-2016/
And weapons keep getting found in mosques.

https://www.opendoorsusa.org/take-action/pray/after-dreams-of-jesus-imam-renounces-islam/
There is of course a small question as to how one defines religious terrorism, globally about 95% of all terrorism is Islamic but some of this is political terrorism committed by Muslims against other Muslims rather than religiously motivated. The US Government NCTC (National Counter-Terrorism Centre) Report published in 2012 showed that about 70% of all religiously defined terrorism deaths in the world were caused by Sunni Muslims, including in this the terror figure for Shias puts the percentage up to about 75%. Wiki-Islam has a good overview of such research;
https://wikiislam.net/wiki/Muslim_Statistics_-_Terrorism
http://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2016/06/04/state-department-iran-biggest-state-sponsor-terrorism/
These aren't even up to date figures; since the declaration of the Islamic State Caliphate, there has been a huge surge in religiously motivated attacks. Having followed media reports ourselves very closely, the statistics for world terror which is Islamic in inspiration during the period September 2015 - September 2016 is probably in the upper 90's percentile. A further problem affecting statistics is the tendency of western governments to cynically label lone wolf
attacks as being due to mental illness and not terrorism, even though the attackers are on record as shouting Allahu-Akbar
when they strike, clearly proving their religious motive.

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/07/15/automobile-weapon-choice-islamist-killers/
These terrorism figures are a reflection of attitudes held by the world's Muslims, research by the Pew Centre in their report The World's Muslims: Religion, Politics and Society
in 2013 has shown that 28% of Muslims worldwide believe in violent jihad. Even 19% of American Muslims believe in violent jihad, so there alone is huge army of potential warriors. A 2015 study by the Sun newspaper in the UK came up with a similar percentage, 20% there, who believe in violent jihad. In Brussels hundreds of young Muslims came out on the streets to openly celebrate the 2016 airport and metro bombings with rioting.

http://www.pewforum.org/2013/04/30/the-worlds-muslims-religion-politics-society-overview/
And the situation seems to be deteriorating, a collated study of statistics by Raheem Kassam published on the Breitbart news website entitled Data, Young Muslims in the West are a Ticking Time Bomb, Increasingly Sympathizing with Radicals, Terror,
showed that the number of young Muslims in the West expressing support for violent jihad is growing. Thirty-one percent of young British Muslims polled by NOP expressed support for the 7th July 2005 London bombings.

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/06/03/islamic-course-inmates-promotes-jihad-government-warned/
As the article points out; this number pales in comparison to global Muslim population figures. According to World Public Opinion (2009) at the University of Maryland, 61 per cent of Egyptians, 32 per cent of Indonesians, 41 per cent of Pakistanis, 38 per cent of Moroccans, 83 per cent of Palestinians, 62 per cent of Jordanians, and 42 per cent of Turks appear to endorse or sympathise with attacks on Americans or American groups.
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/pdf/feb09/STARTII_Feb09_rpt.pdf
And these statistics cannot be explained away by economic factors, such as poverty or lack of education, being the cause for such attitudes.

http://pamelageller.com/2017/03/muslims-isis-allah-ak47.html/
All studies have shown that a clear majority of Muslims around the world would like to live under a worldwide Islamic Caliphate governed in accordance with the principles of Sharia Law. A recent study (2013 by the Pew Forum) found that most Muslims worldwide want to have Sharia as the legal system of their land, with support exceeding 90% in many Middle Eastern and South Asian countries. In the USA, the figure is 51% (60% among the under 30s) and in Western Europe the figure varies from 29% in the UK to 73% in Austria. In 2013, Professor Ruud Koopmans at the Berlin Social Sciences Centre found that even in Western Europe, 65% of Muslims immigrants thought Islamic religious rules were more important than the laws of the country they were living in. The study also found that 60% of Muslim immigrants in Western Europe thought they should return to the roots of Islam, although most seem to have no idea what these are.

The financial networks behind terrorism also provide conclusive evidence of how extremist terrorist groups are funded. Just follow the money, it’s all Muslim funded, leaked diplomatic cables have revealed; it has been an ongoing challenge to persuade Saudi officials to treat terrorist financing emanating from Saudi Arabia as a strategic priority…
terrorist financiers in country, Kuwaiti charities financing terrorism abroad…
UAE-based donors have provided financial support to a variety of terrorist groups…
Al-Qaida, the Taliban, UN-1267 listed LET, and other terrorist groups exploit Qatar as a fundraising locale.

https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/09STATE131801_a.html
So, to summarize, from the figures there is a clear connection between Islam and terrorism.
