Ask the Author...
Q. What makes Bluebell's New School special?
A. I wanted to write a story for children as they get to be developing or more confident readers. Sometimes that age comes with changing schools, or feeling a bit different from everyone around you. This book tackles both those themes. We all want children to accept themselves and others for who they are, and in this story, Bluebell discovers that she can just be who she really is.
Q. Why should I give your books a try?
A. I have been an illustrator for nearly a zillion years (or so it feels!) and I LOVE drawing wildlife. I always 'see' a book before I write it, and you will know what I mean when you have a look at my books. I am also intensely interested in education - so I always slip a sneaky way to learn things into my stories. My customers and reviews tell me how much they love my books, how 'each page is a smorgasbord, a real treat for little readers' and 'I could not wait to turn the pages and see the antics, marvellous illustrations. This is a must read for all small people, and their grandparents.'
Q. Do you have other books?
A. Yes - loads, and all but The Golden Stone can be purchased as paperback books too.
Vincent and the Vampires
Royal Fleas
Wally and Bert, Bffs
The House on Hare Hill
Flossie Bonce
Nature Calls
The Golden Stone
Fidget (new release, coming soon)

Jules Marriner
Jules Marriner was born in Buckinghamshire in the late 1960's, but has never let this hold her back. She started off training as a fashion designer, but soon discovered she was dreadful at this. After making sprout smoothies in Australia for 6 months, she studied at University for a Degree in Illustration and had an epiphany. Her passion is for Children's Books!! It was at Uni that she realised that she wanted to spend the days drawing animals doing unlikely things. After a spell in London, she moved to the Isle of Wight which was much more animal friendly, what with all the Red Squirrels and Orang-Utans and started writing and illustrating books for children. Jules is currently under the supervision of two teenage children who are too smart for their own good, a nice husband who makes a great cup of tea and two small, naughty dogs who proof read all her written work.

I’m so fed up of being a Witch!
said Bluebell, as she tried to plait the feathers on her owl’s tail. I just want to be normal.
Bluebell’s mother sighed and wiped her wet hands on her apron. Somebody had put frogspawn down the plughole again and she had been trying to get rid of the blockage all morning.
Oh dear, not this again Bluebell,
sighed Mum. You’re from a magical family. You can’t help what you are. It’s the same for Elvis,
Mum nodded at Bluebell’s little brother lying on the carpet, telling his beetle a long and complicated story. "It was the same for me and the same for
