Of course this is a trivial work that exists only to sell toys (it's actually a graded reader, which I can only assume involves a large cash payment from Hasbro to Scholastic), but I kind of like it--the psychological interplay between the reckless hotshot green driver and the cool-hand blue driver, and the way blue watches green spin out before making the jump himself, with ice water in his veins, and green fucks it up until blue tells him he's going too fast and then makes the jump even better than blue because he's got that little extra bit of push-it-to-the-edge, is a little more satisfying than the notional content you see in most of these kinds of things. And it keeps Emmett riveted, which helps him get to sleep (though you have to read it nine times cos it's short).
