The Hidden Land of Umble and the First Unicorn - Billie Ard Saunders
Rendib
Once upon a time in a faraway land called Umble, the birth of a princess set forth the beginning of new adventures. Like the other births in this royal family that had preceded the present one, this birth gave honor to the almighty of stallions, King Vetnor, and also to the beautiful mare Queen Emshire. Together they bestowed upon their new little princess the name of Princess Heaven.
Unlike the other royal births to King Vetnor and Queen Emshire, this new birth came with grave complications for the new little princess. These complications caused a vast rumor to spread speedily across the land. A rumor such as this—Princess Heaven will die within her first few breaths of life. Remember, it was only a rumor.
I, myself, believe such a rumor started when a mysterious visitor made a short-lived appearance at the time of Princess Heaven’s complicated birth. This ever-changing, rainbow-colored, mysterious visitor mystically fluttered into land only once upon a peculiar stick. Moments after arriving and coming from what seems like nowhere, this ever-changing, rainbow-colored, mysterious visitor lifted to fly away quickly, leaving only a fading trace of evidence that it was ever present. A golden trail of fine dust lingered, marking the trail this visitor flew for a pathway. No one spoke until after the mysterious visitor disappeared.
This was when the vast rumor began to spread. You know, the rumor that said Princess Heaven would die within her first few breaths of life.
Princess Heaven must be dead!
shouted someone.
It was a spell!
shouted another. Like I said, so the rumors started. Now back to the story.
Amidst the complications of the little princess’s birth, the onlookers privileged enough to watch such a beautiful sight noticed something very unusual about little Princess Heaven’s appearance—something never heard of in any of the stallion families. This peculiar sight became apparent soon enough. However, this poor new little foal, Princess Heaven, truly struggled to survive the first few days of her life.
Lovingly, as an amazing father and a grand king, King Vetnor stayed attentively by his new little Princess Heaven’s side, and all the while she gained her strength. Eventually this new little royal foal, Princess Heaven, pulled completely through this complicating birth experience and lives today.
Hi! I am Selvy, the one telling you this great adventure story.
I go by Selvy the Stinkbug, and I am the storyteller for The Hidden Tale of the Land of Umble and the First Unicorn.
My part in this story, you ask? Oh, I play the role of the observer watching a magnificent new discovery unfold, mostly because I took it upon myself to tell you all about the adventures of the little Princess Heaven here in this tale. That reason suffices me fair enough, so I hope it suffices you fair enough also. Here we go . . . on a journey to a place where magic comes to life! Now, where were we? Oh, yes . . .
Princess Heaven is not the first born from the royal bloodline of the mighty King Vetnor, and the lovely mare, Queen Emshire, as you know. Two princes preceded the little Princess Heaven’s birth.
The eldest colt prince was given the name Prince Zeft by King Vetnor and Queen Emshire. Prince Zeft’s coat shines like pure silk, black with a beautiful, long, black flowing mane and tail almost identical to his father’s. The difference between Prince Zeft and the mighty King Vetnor is hardly recognizable. Prince Zeft’s mane and tail shine like black velvet without any sort of wave at all in his horse hair. King Vetnor’s mane and tail flow with full, lush, thick, wavy, radiantly long horse hair. There lies the only difference between the two, Prince Zeft and his father King Vetnor.
Prince Zeft himself is quite a leader of sorts. He follows perfect suit of his father in every other matter. Prince Zeft always takes charge of anything and everything important when and if the king is absent.
The second colt’s birth from the mighty King Vetnor and the lovely mare Queen Emshire has a coat that shines with a softened version of a smooth, silky, chocolate cream. It is accented with long, flowing, blond streaks that enhance the magnificence of this prince’s mane and tail. King Vetnor and the lovely Queen Emshire have given this second colt the name, Prince Milven. Prince Milven carries a calmer, more subtle tone to his mannerisms and behavior. Although Prince Milven’s creative ideas sometimes astound those around him, Prince Milven makes the most beautiful pieces of crafted anything. Upon request, Prince Milven’s assistance in any sort of project carries great weight for value.
Both Prince Zeft and Prince Milven take after their father’s image in strength and dignity, which make them two fine princes indeed.
Now our new little Princess Heaven’s birth falls into place here as the third born. What a unique and eventful day of her birth, might I remind you.
After little Princess Heaven’s birth, and not much after twelve moons, arrives the birth of Prince Warrley. Prince Warrley shares mostly his timid, quiet side to outsiders, but don’t be fooled. Prince Warrley carries his head high and is quite a valued, strong leader. In appearance, Prince Warrley also wears a glistening silk coat. It is of a majestic silver with black highlights gleaming through his wild flowing mane and tail. Yes, the mighty King Vetnor and the lovely mare, Queen Emshire, bear quite a herd.
Shortly to follow and next in line comes the birth of Prince Benter. Prince Benter wears the joker’s cap. He is full of lightheartedness, fun, and always laughter. These qualities mean no disregard to his prestigious standing as an heir of the royal family. Everyone quite enjoys Prince Benter’s giddy socialization. As far as Prince Benter’s appearance, he is more of a golden stallion with a beige, silk coat. This silk coat carries an assortment of chocolate speckled spots here and there placed randomly throughout.
He looks quite appealing if you ask me. However, I must admit, Prince Benter’s humor interjects spontaneous laughter upon me the most, if I do say so myself . . . and I do.
Now, after all those princes, with the exception of little Princess Heaven, another princess joins the royal family. The mighty King Vetnor and the lovely mare, Queen Emshire, give this new little foal the name of
