About this ebook

In Eavesdropping on God, the reader has the privilege of “listening” in on the conversations, the questions, and the struggles that one man faces that are not unfamiliar to many Christians.

I borrowed the term, Eavesdropping on God, from my pastor Dr. Dennis Brunet. Dr. Brunet, while preaching, will talk directly to one individual and tell him or her, “Can I talk to you for a bit? We’ll just let the others eavesdrop.”

Book Eleven, Gifts of Generosity, is the author’s call to Christians to understand the true mission of the church. We are not only the bride of Jesus, but we are also His body. That means Jesus wants to touch others through us. There is a great blessing that awaits us if we will generously give of ourselves and all that is available to us. King Solomon wrote:

“The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.”
(Proverbs 11:25)

Dave received cum laude honors at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.A. in Theological Studies. Dave is a 1975 graduate of Analy High School in Sebastopol, CA. Dave's love for Christ, politics, and his plain spokenness allow him to cut through all the rancor and confusion found in the debate surrounding many of today's "hot-button" issues. Dave and his wife Karen love living in NW Florida, doting over their grandson Benjamin, their two daughters Becky and Tiffany, and Tiffany's husband Ben. Dave will tell you that the problems facing America today cannot be fixed through economics or politics, because our problems are not economic or political. They are spiritual and without a revival coming to America our nation will not rediscover its national virtue and return to what the Founding Fathers had envisioned when constructing our Constitution.

Eavesdropping on God - David Jeffers

What Amazon Readers Are Saying About the

    Eavesdropping on God Series

I have always loved devotionals. They help one to focus on God's daily provisions. I was happy to see this book in the Kindle shop because the book can go with me wherever I go with my Kindle. The moment I started reading this devotional, I knew I had something that I had always wanted on my Kindle.

    My Observations:

*** These are brief devotionals, which even the busiest person can read.

*** There is one devotion for each day, 30 in all.

*** The presentation touches one's heart deeply.

*** It is spiritually very stimulating.

My Only grievance is that there are only 30 of them. I wish the author would give us at least 3 months’ worth of reading in each volume, 4 volumes per year.

My Recommendation: *** Good buy for everyone who takes their devotions seriously. Dr. Phillip C. Johnson

I thoroughly enjoyed this devotional by David Jeffers. While I often privately use a devotional for quiet reflection, I found the conversational tone that David used actually created a desire to share what I had read. My wife and I soon found out that we enjoyed reading it together and talking about the truths that David's writing illuminated.

I first purchased the paperback, and then I purchased the Kindle edition. I later purchased more copies to give to family. The last devotional in the book really touched me, wading into deep waters. I also recently purchased his follow up second devotional the day it was available for the Kindle, and paperbacks to give as gifts.

One thing I truly appreciate in this devotional is that I don't feel like I have been shorted to fit a format. Each reading is complete and thought provoking. His use of God's word to underscore the message is right on. I will continue to use this devotional in the future by revisiting it as a supplement to my personal study. Jim Rabb

Reading this is great. I actually feel like I'm listening in on God! The author is my friend and brother in Christ, so I am not surprised at how good this is. Can't wait to read more! Jason Death

I'll be honest with you right up front - I know this author personally. That aside however, I'll tell you that if you're looking for an insightful, spiritually-driven, relevant devotional/book that'll speak to your soul, look no further than Eavesdropping on God. Jeffers does a superb job connecting with what I personally believe to be the spiritual intent. I can say that because it literally resonated as truth spoken from a man who set himself aside and took on a role of a spiritual deliveryman. Get your copy soon. And while you're shopping, check out his other writings, which are equally as intellectually and spiritually stimulating! Gary Westfal, #1 Amazon best-selling author

The best book ever (other than the Bible)! David Jeffers talks about everyday conversations with God about everyday occurrences in this life. You won't be disappointed! This devotional series is packed with some of the most encouraging and uplifting words you will find outside of the bible. Angel Humphrey

    Foreword

Do we listen to God, or do we do all the talking? Do we hear the voice of God, or does He hear us complaining? When you read the Eavesdropping with God series by David Jeffers, be sure to have your pencil ready to write in the margins what God has to say to you. This conversation is quickly going to be a three-way between you, Dave and God. So put your mouth on mute and be ready to experience Jesus as a twenty-first century disciple―a disciple that reflects his Master.

"How does one not live out that which he or she says they value? They do so by not having a biblical worldview. A biblical worldview is only attained through devoted study of Scripture. Scripture is to be read, taught, and meditated upon so that it has the chance to take root in our hearts and thereby into our consciences. That is why the Apostle Paul reminded Timothy thusly:

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)―excerpt from Gifts of Generosity

Eavesdropping on God is an outpouring of a life well-lived. We don’t always start well but our goal in Christ should be to end well. To hear from God at the end of our service to Him, Well done good and faithful servant. That is the epitaph of a life well-lived.

Dave’s life didn’t start off well but it is in those moments of three steps forward and two steps back that Dave has been able to capture the essence of the human condition in his appeal to God. It is in the loss of his marriage and then the finding of a life-long helpmate, it is in the death of a son, it is in the sacrificial giving of unconditional love to family and country, that we see the outpouring of Dave’s heart to God. Amazingly, God talks back and we can clearly hear Him.

You may get upset with what Dave has written, but ask yourself why you’re getting so upset. Remember, you’re eavesdropping on what God speaks to Dave’s heart. If we are quiet before God we can eavesdrop on those conversations between God and Dave. God’s greatest commandment to love the LORD our God with all our heart begins with one word―hear or listen.

Listen. Can you hear His still small voice? No, that’s
