About this ebook

In just a few short years, massive shifts in public opinion have radically reshaped society's views on homosexuality. Feeling the pressure to forsake long-held beliefs about sex and marriage, some argue that Christians have historically misunderstood the Bible's teaching on this issue. But does this approach do justice to what the Bible really teaches about homosexuality? In this timely book, award-winning author Kevin DeYoung challenges each of us—the skeptic, the seeker, the certain, and the confused—to take a humble look at God's Word. Examining key biblical passages in both the Old and New Testaments and the Bible's overarching teaching regarding sexuality, DeYoung responds to popular objections raised by Christians and non-Christians alike—offering readers an indispensable resource for thinking through one of the most pressing issues of our day.

This is a really good resource on the title. He has two parts: looking at the five key passages ( Gen 1-2; Gen 19; Lev 18, 20; Rom 1; ITim 1), and then addressing the main counterarguments (the Bible talks about it very little; a better kind of homosexuality; gluttony and divorce; it isn't fair; wrong side of history; God is a God of love). He writes with a lot of compassion, but also resolution. He deals only in an appendix with gay marriage.Other books that might be good: Defending Marriage: Twelve Arguments for Sanity by A. Esolen; works by Robert P. George; The Intolerance of Tolerance by Carson; What is Marriage? by Ryan Anderson and RP George. This would be a good item for honest inquiry from the other side.

It had many good points and does an excellent job of quoting the Bible for relevant references. I did not agree with the book 100% but I do believe it is a good book to help people see what the Bible says about this issue.

Dr. Kevin de Young provides the reader with an apologetic proposition supporting the orthodox traditions regarding homosexuality. Steeped heavily in scripture, this is a meaty theological exploration of the highly charged and controversial issues of homoeroticism, same sex attraction, homosexuality and legalised same sex marriage. I highly recommend this book for those who want to understand"the whole counsel of God" surrounding these issues.
