Scerior Part II - Jilly Bowling

    lifeline.

    Chapter 1

Jo stood in the middle of a vast plain of grey dust, tears streaming down over her face mask. She was crying because she was standing where Nelson’s column had been, in the middle of Trafalgar square. The grey dust was all that was left of London’s buildings and the people who had died underneath them.

In the distance she could see the Sceriae’s large machines, huge monsters that could suck up whole buildings, turn them to fine rubble and incinerate it, before spewing it out behind as fine grey dust. Acorus had overruled her and the human council, insisting that the only way to prevent disease was by incinerating everything that had human remains mixed up in it. He couldn’t understand the human desire to save old buildings that had been there for centuries, and Jo had fallen out with him many times over what she considered were harsh decisions. He insisted that keeping disease away was more important than the British museum, St. Paul’s cathedral, art galleries, palaces and castles.

New towns had risen quickly on what had been farmland; Salisbury plain was now a large city, with the Sceriae’s prefabricated villa’s laid out in neat rows. The Escorii business’ that had sprung up, sold everything anyone could desire, with humans working alongside the Escorii.

North America, Europe, Russia, Italy, China and Japan were completely free from the Xenorii. The southern hemisphere had pockets of freedom, but some were still in danger of succumbing to the evil aliens. Africa, India and Australia were Xenorii strongholds, with the people there used as blood milkers along with the indigenous animals. Many of the large cats were kept by the Xenorii for amusement, in the way that the Romans had. They had made large settlements underground from local sources, and moved their starships into deep trenches in the ocean, making it very difficult for the Sceriae to find them.

Jo sighed and turned back to her fighter ship where Acorus’s eldest son was calling to her.

It is time to go Lady Joanna. The human council will be arriving shortly. Father will be angry if we aren’t there to greet them.

I’m coming Allorus, mustn’t make the General angry.

They were still living on Acorus’s ship, as he preferred to be ready for any attack by the Xenorii, who had proved to be more dangerous and resourceful than ever before. They liked Earth, with its beautiful countryside and soft people and were prepared to fight for it.

Hurrying to her quarters, Jo worried about how Acorus had changed. He was very much Lord General Acorus, ruler of Earth, and very rarely laughed or joked with Jo or his soldiers. She understood that he had a great weight on his shoulders, still having to take care of his galaxy, but also responsible for the regeneration of Earth, but she felt as if he was drifting away from her, and didn’t know how to deal with him. He didn’t play or make love to her any more, just using her body for sexual relief, and leaving her feeling unloved.

As she walked into their room Acorus turned to her and said You’re late. Get changed and come to the council chamber.

Muttering to herself Jo hurried into the bathroom as Tchu rushed in to help her. Where have you been, the General is furious?

The General is often furious, I hate the way he is now. He’s changed so much. Jo said as Tchu helped her off with her armour.

He has many worries and problems with rebuilding Earth. It shows that he still cares for you in the way he is helping your planet.

Humph, or is it the power he cares for? Jo muttered as she climbed into the shower.

Once she was showered and dressed in a smart formal tunic and trousers she piled her hair on top of her head and hurried to the council chamber.

As she entered, the American president, Jackson, was standing shouting at Acorus, who was lounging at ease in his chair at the head of the table.

Ah, Lady Jo-Anna, here you are at last. Please take your seat. Acorus stood as all the other men did.

Please sit down, sorry I’m late, Jo said softly.

As the men sat down Acorus turned to President Jackson and said Please continue with your rant!

    Everyone gasped including Jo.

Jackson looked around the table You see, no respect for our position, destroying our heritage and forcing heads of governments to live like the common people.

Acorus stood up I have every respect for the position of President, Premier or Prime minister, just not for the men who use the position for their own aggrandisement. You live in luxury, in secure compounds, guarded by my soldiers. The common people, as you call them, live on estates. The villas you live in are larger because they also house your offices, but your living quarters do not need to be bigger than any other citizens.

To live in this way gives no incentive for people to better themselves. The lower classes will just laze about doing nothing if they are treated in the same way as their betters. Jackson’s voice was rising again.

The German Premier spoke up The German people have embraced the new order. Our incentive is to rid our planet of the Xenorii and to ensure the future of the human race.

Well said. Came from Britain’s Prime minister as well as the heads of Russia, China, Japan and the heads of the other European countries.

It seems that the United States are the only ones with a problem, or is it just their leader. Are Americans so weak that the only thing they want is to be better than their fellow man? Maybe an election would bring stronger minds to your government? Acorus growled.

You do not say when we have an election. Jackson shouted.

No? Strange. I had thought that this council had given me total control of your planet until the Xenorii have been destroyed, or shall we go home and leave you to your own devises? I will leave you to decide, come Jo. Acorus took her arm and led her from the room.

    That was rude, she muttered.

Are you calling me ill mannered Jo-Anna? It wasn’t me who kept the premiers waiting.

I’m sorry for that, I was delayed.

Delayed weeping tears over old wrecked buildings. Your priorities seem to be at fault!

I can’t help it if I have feelings for my world. You used to have feelings too. Jo cried.

Acorus broke his stride You think I have no feelings?

Yes, you aren’t fun anymore, you fuck me but don’t make love to me, and you are so hard towards everyone!

Sighing he nodded his head After all I have done you think that of me?

What else can I think? You don’t talk to me, listen to me or love me anymore. Jo cried.

Love! I leave my world to save yours, risk my fellow soldiers to save humans and you think me hard and unloving?

They had reached their quarters and as they entered Acorus pulled her into his arms.

If you desire softness and indecision, you are with the wrong male. I have told you that I love you and proved it over and over again. If you doubt me then that is in your mind, I haven’t got time to woo and seduce you, when I need physical relief. I thought you understood that. When we talk you criticise the way I am doing things and side with the humans. How do you think I feel? You’re my mate and I will take you when I want.

You gave me permission, years ago, to say no when I don’t want you to mate with me, so no, you will not just take me when you want. Jo said as she went to pull away.

Acorus caught her and grabbing her tunic ripped it off her, then he picked her up and sitting on the bed tore her trousers off. Jo struggled and swore, trying to bite and punch him. As she caught his nose with her fist he pushed her over his knee and held her head down as he smacked her bottom. This time it was not in play but hard and meant to hurt, as he released his tiredness, worry and exasperation. Jo was crying and screaming but he did not let her go. Instead he toppled her onto her front on the bed, pulling her to the edge. With one large hand he held her down and with the other he spread her legs, wedging a knee between them to keep them apart. Removing his trousers he freed his large purple veined shaft. Placing it against her sex he rubbed himself against her until against her will she moistened, then he thrust into her firmly, causing her to scream at the size of him. Remaining still until her body adapted to him, he waited until she started to throb around him. Her body still wanted him even if her brain didn’t and as he moved slowly he felt her responding to him. Her bottom arched up to him and her muscles inside rippled.

As her traitorous body responded to him, Jo continued to cry and swear. Sheer frustration was making her cry even harder as, understanding her body completely, he stroked her to a screaming orgasm, while shouting that she hated him and would never forgive him for raping her again.

Pulling out of her Acorus flipped her over onto her stomach and laid his leg and shoulder over her to keep her in place.

Jo, I do love you and wish we had time to laugh, have fun and play. But my time is not my own. I have millions of lives under my care both here and on Scerior. I can only ask you to be patient and back me up as you used to.

Jo turned her face away from him I told you that if you ever raped me again I would never forgive you. Not only did you force me but you beat me to hurt me, I no longer wish to be your mate. We’re finished, now please let me go.

That is one thing that will never happen; I will never let you go. Acorus pulled her face to him and capturing her mouth kissed her sensuously, parting her lips with his tongue, even as she tried to bite him. Overcoming her with the pressure of his lips he took her mouth and ravished it.

When he left her he looked at her sadly, she was his mate his partner his soul mate, how had they come to this. As he hesitated there was a knock on the door and a soldier shouted for him. Answering he hurried into his armour and with one last glance at Jo he left the room.

Jo lay on the bed, dry eyed; this time he had gone too far. He had turned into a dictator with his finer qualities buried by the power he wielded. If she left him she would never see her children again, but maybe it would bring him to his senses. Once he would do anything for her but now all he wanted was her acquiescence and her body.

She needed to get away so she could think, without the distraction of how he made her body respond to his. She would go somewhere only humans lived. Pockets of America had been left undamaged by the Xenorii. They were scarcely populated and not easy to search. So she would go there. She would need a ship, flying it was no problem as she had learned to fly so she could take herself to different areas of Scerior without wasting a soldier’s time. Groaning as she got off the bed, she realised that this time Acorus had really punished her, and it made her resolve hardened. She chose strong trousers and a warm plain tunic, pushing her feet into comfortable, strong knee high boots. Packing a small backpack with a variety of sturdy clothes she went to the kitchen for some survival rations and water. Nobody questioned her; she was Lady Joanna, future queen of Scerior. On the flight deck she ordered her ship to be made ready and the flight deck commander offered soldiers to go with her, but she told him that she was picking up four officers on Earth. Once she had done her flight checks she took off and felt safe for the first time since she had decided to leave.

The starship had been stationary over what had been Washington DC, so she didn’t have to worry about re-entering Earth’s atmosphere; that would have been beyond her flying abilities.

Once she was away from the starship’s locality she keyed in the coordinates for an area of Montana, that had been one of the least inhabited areas of America, and therefore had suffered very little at the hands of the Xenorii. Some of the largest settlements had been wiped out but most people had lived separately on farmland, with very little interaction with their neighbours.

She passed over areas of burnt and destroyed cities, towns and agriculture. But because of the vast empty areas, a lot of the country looked as it always had. No new settlements had been made because the land and climate was harsh, and with so few Americans left they had been gathered in towns in gentler areas for ease of protection.

However some hardy folk had survived by their own initiative and a group had formed along the Powder river, which had been used by outlaws as hideaways in the nineteenth century. Some of their descendants had still been farming there. The Xenorii had never found them and the Sceriae had left them alone until they asked for help. Jo had decided to go there as it was so remote and Acorus wouldn’t think to look for her there.

Switching on a heat seeking viewer she searched along the river for signs of life. Just as she was becoming afraid that no one was there, and the talk of people still living there were just rumours, she spotted a group of six in a wide clearing near the river. She set the flight coordinates on the ship to return to the starship, stepped into the light beam and was on the ground before the ship turned and flew off.

Before she could turn she was grabbed and thrown to the ground, winded she was held down by a man with wild hair and a beard. He appeared to be dressed in rags and held a large knife in his hand.

Jo screamed and shouted No, I’m human, don’t hurt me please.

Kneeling on either side of her chest he growled What are you doing here?

I want to join you; I’ve escaped from the Sceriae.

    Sceriae? Who are they?

They’re the aliens who helped humans fight the Xenorii, the bad aliens who attacked Earth. Jo gasped, frightened for her life.

    Why have you come here?

This is the only place where humans are in charge, and are left alone.

I don’t believe you, who brought you here? he snarled.

No one honestly, I stole the ship and then sent it back to base automatically. My name’s Jo, please believe me.

Standing up he hauled her to her feet and pressed the knife into her throat. I don’t believe you but we need women, I warn you if you are lying I will kill you.

Pulling her arms behind her back he tied her wrists together and pushed her in front of him. As he moved away from the river others joined them, asking who Jo was and why she was there. The man wouldn’t let Jo stop or answer them so she kept her head down and stayed quiet. They trekked for about a mile through rough broken ground and scrub until as they passed along a narrow path and round a corner they came upon a settlement of log cabins, covered from the air by huge camouflage nets stretched right over them. As Jo looked around she thought it was no wonder the Xenorii hadn’t taken them. Someone knew what they were doing when it came to blending with the countryside.

More people came out to watch Jo being brought in, three times more men than women, until she was pulled to a stop in front of one of the cabins. As she stood there she was trembling, the people didn’t look very friendly and the smell was awful to her. This was as she must have smelled when she was first kidnapped. Suddenly she felt as if she had made a big mistake.

The cabin door opened and four men came out carrying machine guns, they were clean shaven and looked reasonably clean. Ex soldiers Jo thought from the way they carried themselves. One who was obviously in charge held up his hand for silence and asked

What’s going on here, where did you find her?

Jo’s captor replied She just appeared in a beam of light, down by the river. Says she’s human and wants to join us. But she don’t seem right, so I brung her to you, sir.

Right, all of you get on with your work and we’ll discuss this later after I find out what she’s up to. Bring her in here Buck.

Buck prodded Jo forward, up three steps and into the cabin, which to her surprise had electric light, they must have a generator somewhere. The leader told Buck to go and stood looking at her.

Well you haven’t been roughing it, have you? What’s your story? The truth mind or I won’t hesitate to kill you if I think you are a risk to my people.

Jo told him a version of the truth, that she’d been kidnapped by the Sceriae, been well cared for and had four children by one of them. When they came to Earth she saw her chance to escape and took it

He looked at her sceptically and asked many questions about the Sceriae, why they were here and why they’d brought her along.

They are a good people, keep their galaxy safe and are admired by all the different races in their galaxy. Their females were dying off and no more were being born so they searched for compatible females through many galaxies. Humans are the only race with compatible genes, so they kidnapped thousands of girls. They treated us well, but we were there to be bred from. Because they have a history with us, and they hate the Xenorrii, they decided to help Earth and are doing their best to rebuild it. However I craved human company so when I got the chance I left and came here.

The man frowned But why bring you here, into a conflict. If you are important to them surely they would have left you somewhere safe. Your story doesn’t ring true.

Jo thought quickly I am a nurse and help their doctors, so that’s why. But my mate who I had got used to died in battle, and I would have been forced to take another and have more children. I didn’t want to so I left.

The men laughed and smirked at her and one said Rather have a man between your legs than an alien.

Jo looked at them aghast, `surely not?` She was in serious trouble, how stupid to think of men as decent and honourable, especially in these conditions. There weren’t enough women here for each man to have one as his wife.

I thought I’d be safe with fellow humans, she said.

And you will be. The aliens don’t seem to want to bother us and we have plenty of game to hunt. Berries and greens grow wild and the river provides water and fish. You won’t go hungry and you’ll have to do your share of the work. It’s up to you whether you take a man but if you don’t you’ll have to feed yourself, or sell yourself to any man who wants you, for food. We can’t have free loaders here if we are to survive and carry on the human race.

Jo couldn’t control her shock But I don’t want to have a man or sell myself. I came here to be free.

You are free, but you have to understand, men need a women, and if we are to survive as a people we need children in the same way as the aliens do. I don’t think that you could survive by yourself so I insist that you take one man. After being at the mercy of an alien male a man will be a pleasure.

Jo opened her mouth to refuse but the leader held up his hand and turned to one of the others. Call the men to a meeting, all those who haven’t got a woman and let’s get this sorted straight away.

    No, I refuse, I won’t do it.

You will or you’ll die, so shut up and strip.

Jo gasped, no way, shaking her head she looked around for a way out. Before she could decide what to do, men were streaming into the cabin, dozens of them, many pushing forward to get a good look at her.

Let’s see what we are bartering for then Jake, one shouted, and their leader stepped up to Jo. Don’t fight me, I don’t want to hurt you.

Taking hold of her tunic he pulled it over her head, restraining her easily, then he removed her trousers and lifted her up onto the table. As he stepped back he drew in a breath that whistled over his teeth.

There was silence in the room as the men were struck by her beauty. Jo put one hand over her breasts and the other over her sex, trembling with embarrassment at being naked in front of such hungry and lascivious eyes.

Jake took in a breath Auction over, this one is for me. Sorry guys but I have let you all have first dibs on the women. This one will be the mother of my children.

Then he lifted Jo down and dropped her tunic over her head. There were grumbles from the men and Jake looked round and asked Anyone want to fight me for her?

Many of the men grumbled but no one challenged him. He was their leader by strength as well as intelligence. As the men filed out the ones who were obviously Jakes lieutenants cracked jokes and slapped him on his shoulder Sure you remember what to do? one joked, while another said Just shout if you need any help.

Then they left leaving Jo alone with him. She looked for her trousers and when she found them tried to pull them on, but he was beside her, in an instant, taking them out of her hands. Then he ripped her tunic off again.

    No Jo gasped.

I’m afraid that it’s yes. You are one beautiful woman, no way have you had four children. What other lies have you told me?

None, Jo whispered trying to back away from him.

Reaching out his hand Jake cupped her breast You are no older than eighteen, twenty, had your first child at thirteen, did you? Are the aliens paedophiles then?

Life is different on Scerior, we were looked after as if we were prize broodmares.

And you hated it so much you ran away!

I told you, I didn’t want to take another male.

Then you made a big mistake coming here. Jake growled pulling her towards him and lowering his mouth to hers. As she struggled he gripped the nape of her neck and cupping her bottom with his other hand pressed her to his large erection.

As he removed his mouth from her she gasped Please don’t rape me.

Still holding her close he nuzzled into the sensitive spot under her ear and said I’ve never raped a woman in my life, never had to, you will come to me willingly, that is a promise.

Then he bent down picked up her clothes and handed them to her. What is your name and why are you here?

Jo quickly dragged on her trousers and tunic and said "I don’t understand. Why did you claim me
