About this ebook

“Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
Spencer Johnson
This fascinating poetry compilation is divided into three themes, and each theme serves a different purpose. The poet weaves and interweaves a delicate blend of poetry that touches the heart and soul of an individual.
Theme one and theme three deals with the single purpose of loving one woman and all the fire and ice that go with it. The trait where a man loves one woman is almost a forgotten quality in the 21st century.
The poetry written in Silence only makes it louder is an attractive exploration of eloquently beautiful words and emotion that is unique to the joy and pain.
This book has an international flavour in that it gathers poetry that was written in Japan, Thailand, England and South Africa. The poetry tells a story, distinctively, a Cape Town story at the Waterfront. It is a collection of poetry adorned in honesty and stunning silence. The book explores love, purpose, vision and destiny. The poems vary widely in emotion and are something to which many readers can relate. The passionate lines penetrate the very fabric of life and can help the reader reflect on his/her own relationship. The poetry in theme one and theme three were written in 2016—theme two was written 2003-2016. Remarkably, the author has written over 3000 poems in his lifetime so far and appeared in over 15 anthologies.

    Introduction

Speak your truths and let your heart be heard, for even disaster is beautiful when it is pure.

    Becca Lee

I hope that the collection of poems in this book will echo through time, serving as a simple guide and reflection about love and life. I hope that it embraces the different fragments of life and harnesses the pattern of silence as a vehicle to compose the elements of poetry concerning love and life. This book emanated from an event that lasted three hours at the V & A Waterfront, Cape Town.

Silence has vitality that is often not seen by many. Silence has the power to get people to deliberate and to act. Silence has the ability to bring out the hidden truth concerning a matter. Often silence can be a time for self-examination, and when we examine ourselves we allow ourselves to speak the truth. In this book I have translated the song in my heart and vision in my life – and hope these poems will be memorable and rewarding for the reader.

The poems in this book are meant to be enjoyed, used for guidance and motivational support in almost any facet of life. They can also be used for poetry lessons, and can serve as a guide on how to write poetry, and how to speak in silence about an issue in your heart. Some poems will echo a discussion, and to help get this going, feature a summary. They will also allow readers and perhaps teachers to share their own thought patterns and questions which will give them the opportunity to maximise their level of curiosity and impose their own level of discussion.

The poems contribute to major themes in human life: Love, Purpose, Vision, Difficulty, Identity, Compassion and the closed elements of life (what a person suffers in silence). I have divided the poems and presented them under themes, and under each theme there are also sub-themes which add a level of awareness as to the heart of the poet. There are three themes:

Theme One – Love’s Past, Present and Future

Theme Two – From the Past to the Present for the Future

Theme Three – The Butterfly Principle Bringing Changes for the Future

Some of these poems were written in Japan, Thailand, England and South Africa. Certain poems follow a simple format: Poem, quote, summary and the lesson drawn from the poem.

Theme One deals predominantly with one lady. It is GREAT to LOVE ONE WOMAN. As one sifts through the poetry the name of the lady becomes clear, with the message intensifying the more you progress through the book. The messages in these poems are not mere principles. I have lived them, which is why I can speak from a personal perspective and transparent reality. In principal, I don’t have it all together, and many times I had to learn the hard way in life.

Theme One also echoes some elements of William Shakespeare’s dark lady theme. However, the poem My love for you was not about the bedroom rectifies that mistaken element in this book. Embedded within Theme One there is also an element of John Keats’ writing. Furthermore, the poetry within these pages also reflects deeper aspects of the simplicity of love and from the readings of other poets like Samuel Daniels (1563-1619), Lord Byron (1788-1824), E. E. Cummings (1894-1962), Christina Rossetti (1830-1894), W.B. Yeats (1865-1939), Elisabeth Browning (1806-1861), and T. S. Elliot (1888-1965). The readings of South African poets Oswald Mtshali and Roy Campbell, helped with the aspect of simplicity in some of my poems.

Theme Two brings out the element of what most (if not all) individuals will face – an element of darkness in their lives. The motivational poems in this theme are not thought out poems for the sake of writing. I have lived through each one. What is significant is the fact that whatever one human will go through, there are many others who will go through the exact same thing – which is why Theme Two can add value to many other individual’s lives.

Theme Three ends with the realisation that we have to move on in life. Yes, it is not easy, but time waits for no one. Hence the reason for ending the book with a most significant poem.

    Fantastic Four

HASEENA IS THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD

Glorious splendour prostrated under a delightful blue sky

The woman of tomorrow lifts the sky

Colour and beauty never say goodbye

    A magnificent shade of white

Reflects the pattern of a dove

It burns with happiness under a watchful sky

Haseena is the 8th wonder of the world.

The composition of this next wonder is on time

Standing in beauty her hair stretched in length

The collective variance embraces the pattern of a queen

The woman of tomorrow lifts the sky

Colour and beauty never say goodbye

It burns with happiness under a watchful sky

Haseena is the 8th wonder of the world.

Your life was built out of the heavens

The gardens of tomorrow declare your beauty

    The wonder of your smile

Demonstrates that you are the most perfect jewel

The woman of tomorrow lifts the sky

    Colour and beauty never
