    Her Last Missed Calls

    It was close to 7 PM and Rajiv Mohan was late by around twenty minutes to reach home from his office. He parked his car in the garage and made his way to the front door of his villa with his office bag hanging on his right shoulder. It was dark as none of the lights were turned on which was unusual. Rajiv was curious because usually Gayatri, his wife, waited for him by the door. He didn’t care if she waited for him or not but was miffed at her for not turning on the lights.

    Sitting at home all day and she can’t even turn on the lights, he muttered as he managed to open the front door in the darkness using the key with him.

    Rajiv stepped inside and turned on the lights before closing the door. He glanced around and Gayatri was nowhere in sight but he didn’t bother to look for her either. He went straight to his room upstairs and came back down a bit later after a shower. He was in a white polo t-shirt and black pyjama pants with white stripes. The place was very quiet and there was no sign of Gayatri yet.
