About this ebook

Rodger Cole was tired of the heat in the south. He was headed north to Montana, through Arizona's, Painted Desert. He was not expecting to find a mute woman and Apaches in his travels.
Cole was disgusted with himself for the thoughts that kept running through his mind and the way his body reacts, every time he gets close to the woman he found. His whole being responds to her touch or her voice. The desire and lust, he's felt before, but the other feelings are new and he's not for sure what they are.
Micah has seen her husband and friends killed and tortured by Apache, after the wagon train they were in was ambushed and destroyed. Her mind is no longer hers. She's drawn into herself for protection. As she slowly realizes Cole is with her, she begins to live in reality, but in fear, because she will not go back with War Lance.

Marguret F Boe

I started reading in 6th grade and by 7th Grade, I was hooked on writing. Whether it be from my need to write, or entertaining my children, when they were small, I've always done some form of writing. Throughout my life, I find by keeping a journal, it can be used for stories and story ideas. The journal has helped me many times to clear my mind of clutter. My life is simpler when I write. When I'm able, I enjoy reading, puttering with flowers, inside or out, and enjoying my DVD collection of movies.

    Chapter One

He sat on his horse quietly scanning the high ridges on either side of the deep ravine. The mountains above the lip of sand, were a distance haze all around.

His horse drew up its ears and looked to the east... again.

Rodger Cole followed the horse's gaze. He studied the rippling sand around him. There was a slight breeze that came and went, there was no sound in the bottom. There was nothing there, but sand.

Damn, he thought. I would pick the ravine that is as busy as Main Street in Denver.

Early morning shadows began to creep over thirty-feet of sandy floor. He studied the tract below him.

Gravity works over-time on slopes made of sand. The imprints showed the ponies sliding down the slope. As they raised their hooves, sand slid down, but didn't fill in the small diameter, sloppy holes, the hooves had made. Some had started to fill in with sand, but the prints were still visible.

The pony tracks in the bottom, told him the rest of the story. They ranged from two to several hours old.

Cole sat easily in the saddle. He listened to the quiet of the Painted Desert and thought of the trouble he found himself in. His rifle lay cradled in the nook of his left arm. Just in case...

He had drifted down to Arizona about two years ago. He'd gotten his fill of sun and sand and was headed back to Montana. It was time to see his folks in the cold north.

Guess taking the route suggested through the desert by the cowboy, was a good idea, but it was bad timing on my part. I had to leave when the Apache decided to disagree with the locals.

"With the help of a couple of people, I've been able to find enough water along
