This book is so misleading. Does the writer even know what she talks about? She is talking about glycerin all the time but she is actually referring to a ready made soap base. Glycerin is something else. OMG. I am flabbergasted by this ignorance of science by someone writing about soap making. Not recommended at all.

Soap Making - Carolyn Flores

Introduction

Most people buy their soap from grocery stores, retail stores, and pharmacies. Some people now take advantage of home delivery services such as Amazon Prime in order to get their soap and other home necessities delivered straight to their door. Making your own soap is actually quite easy. Many craft stores have soap making kits. You could make your own bar soap, your own liquid soap, and even your own shampoo. If you enjoy a challenge, you can learn to make lye soap. We won’t go into detail in this book about making lye soap although we will talk about some of the basics. It’s still relatively easy to do, but it’s not as easy as using glycerin.

Making your own soap is relatively inexpensive. When you first go and purchase your soap making supplies, you may think that making soap is more expensive than buying soap. Well, stop and think about how much soap you can make from your investment of supplies versus what the same amount of money will pay for when purchasing pre-made shower gel or even bar soap. You’ll discover that it is actually cheaper to make your own soap. You will get more soap for your
