    Preface

This small book is part of a larger work, the Christian Minister’s Manual, which has been published for over seventy-five years. It is not the work of one person, but rather the work of many ministers.

The Christian Minister’s Manual tries to help make the task of ministry doable. Ministry takes education, experience, wisdom, and grace to work with sometimes demanding church members. The manual acts as a resource for dealing with the demanding situations a minister faces every day.

This portion focuses on weddings, which have become much more complex in recent years. For ministers, an upcoming wedding often involves interactions with the couple long before and after the actual service. What do you say in premarital counseling when you don’t have a counseling degree? This manual has suggestions for this opportunity to impact two lives. Many desire the old traditions of the past and new models are surfacing on a regular basis. This manual explains the significance of many of the traditions of the past and the models surfacing today. This manual also presents various wedding services.

If you find this resource helpful, consider purchasing the full Christian Minister’s Manual, which covers many more topics, including a minister’s call, evangelism, funerals, baby dedications, baptisms, ordinations, and more. The complete manual also comes with downloadable materials.

    Introduction

Jesus must have loved weddings. His first miracle took place at one. Some of his analogies regarding his relationship to the church are described in wedding terms. Paul likewise emphasizes the importance of marriage when he compares it to Christ’s relationship to the church. And in Revelation John explains Christ’s marriage relationship with the church as eternal. It is no wonder that Christians place high importance on weddings. Here are some ideas that might help as you perform these ceremonies on a regular basis.
