Vowel is a sound produced without obstruction to the flow of air from the lungs. Vowels are twenty sounds represented by these phonetic symbols: /i/, /e/, /æ/, /ɒ/, /u/, /ʌ/, /ə/, /i:/, /a:/, /ɔ:/, /u:/, /3:/, /əi/, /ai/, /ɔi/, /əu/, /au/, /iə/, /eə/, and /uə/.
