About this ebook
Brooke is deep undercover and she's been promoted to manage a more prestigious gang territory, Brooklyn Heights. She hasn't heard from her own squadron in a while, and she's got quite a lot to tell them. Her instincts tell her that something is wrong but she knows she has to ignore them if she wants to survive.
Lamar and Marcus aren't like the usual run of the mill gangsters she's used to. As she becomes more engrossed in their lives, she begins to wonder if they're getting outside help. They've split their empire into multiple gangs, with no true center that she can pinpoint. In addition, they've built several businesses of their own to launder their money.
Brooke can't help but think that there's another higher power at work with the isolation they've created. Unbeknownst to her, Captain Bolt and the team supporting her are also finding strange activity within the police ranks in Brooklyn. Does Brooke manage to use her newfound position at Brooklyn Heights to uncover more of Lamar and Marcus' thuggish empire, or is she headed for a trap created by the very police she works for?

Brooklyn Heights - Trevon Carter
Brooke groaned as she rolled out of bed, her head throbbing in pain as she slowly sat up. The previous night was a blur. It took her a few minutes to get adjusted to her surroundings and for a moment, she didn’t know where she was.
Ugh... what the fuck...
She whispered to herself.
Her surroundings slowly grew familiar; it was her own room... her new room, in a new condominium, right next to East River in the Brooklyn Heights. The sun beamed through the floor the ceiling windows, flooding her eyes with light.
Ugh...
Brooke groaned as she got to her feet.
The bed creaked as she stood up and she reached out and closed the curtains. She was still getting accustomed to her new setting. Lamar had put her in a nice, high rise condo, with a straight view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooke was overwhelmed at first, but she grew more used to the surroundings as time went on.
Captain Bolt hadn’t contacted her since they last met at her old apartment in the projects. She continued to worry that he had become addicted to PDP, Purple Dream Plus, or, worse yet, had succumbed to the cold after taking it. There was only one option left, and that was a safe house, but unfortunately for her, it was all the way on the other side, near Jamaica Bay.
Her life was careening out of control lately as she rose through the ranks of her particular gang within Lamar and Marcus’ mysterious army. When she first arrived, they had put her in a new gang, Lucky Strike, or, as their gang tag said, LuckyX, while letting her know that Devon, her own pit crew soldier, was in safe hands with another soldier in M12. She actually tried to bring Devon and Cheez with her, but Lamar was adamant that they had to stay where they were. No young crew members were allowed until they proved themselves.
She scratched the back of her head as she walked into the bathroom. The person staring back at her from the mirror looked foreign to her now. She sighed and turned on the faucet, quickly washing her face with the cold rushing water.
There was a knock on the door and Brooke looked up at the mirror, confused. Big Mack wasn’t supposed to arrive until later in the afternoon. She waited, wondering if it might have been the neighbor. Another knock echoed through her apartment and she sighed as she grabbed a nearby towel and wiped her face.
On my way!
She yelled as she headed out.
On her way to the door, she grabbed a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. After quickly putting them on and rustling her hair a bit, she looked through the peephole to see a delivery man idly staring at the wall. She opened the door and poked her head out.
Yeah?
She asked.
Hi, Brooke?
Yeah.
Package for you,
the man replied as she gave her a small box.
Oh, thanks,
Brooke replied as she took it and closed the door.
She stared at the box, gently moving it around in the air as if she could see through it. After gently shaking it, she shrugged and ripped it open. Brooke gasped as she saw a small little device within the box.
What the fuck...?
She whispered.
It was like a small ear bud and she examined it carefully. She hesitated before she put it in her ear.
Uh... hello?
She called out.
Brooke felt silly as she stood alone in her apartment, talking to no one in particular with a mysterious ear bud in her ear.
Brooke?
A voice responded.
She freaked out and looked around, her eyes wide, and her body shaking.
What the fuck?!
She said loudly.
Language,
the voice replied.
Brooke closed her eyes and calmed herself. The voice was very much familiar, it was Captain Bolt.
Thank God, Captain Bolt? Is that you?
Yes Brooklyn, it’s me. How are you doing?
Oh fuck, what happened? What is this? Where are you?
She asked excitedly.
Again, language Brooklyn. I’m fine, that PDP hit me hard at first but I’ve managed to get through it. How’s the ear bud feel? Roberto was able to find it online at a... relatively low price. I had to pay out of pocket,
Captain Bolt informed.
Roberto?
The IT guy,
Captain Bolt sighed.
Oh right, shit, I keep forgetting. It feels pretty comfortable. I’ve never seen anything like this before. How is it picking up my voice?
Brooke questioned.
Hold on, Roberto... Roberto! Brooklyn is asking how the ear bud acts like a mic.
Brooke rolled her eyes and began walking towards her refrigerator. It felt as though a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders, knowing that her Captain was safe. She heard another voice saying something but it was too garbled to understand.
Uh huh... oh really? Vibrations? Does mine work like that too? No? Oh, I see, because I’m on a phone.
Captain? Captain! It’s all right, I don’t need tech speak. It was just me thinking out loud.
Hold on Brooklyn, Roberto can tell you,
Captain Bolt replied, obviously not listening to what she had just said.
Hello?
Another voice greeted.
Hi Roberto.
Hey. Yeah, so the mic works because the vibrations in your jaw. It’s like those little Bluetooth headsets people have. I modified it, crammed some parts in from an old wire and-
Brooke rolled her eyes and walked over to the window, Roberto’s voice trailing off to the back of her mind. She stared out at the water again and watched a couple of ferries slowly roll by. A smile crept up on her lips again as she felt relieved.
Roberto? Hey Roberto? Yeah, thanks, this all sounds good and all but I need to talk to Captain Bolt,
Brooke interrupted.
Oh, right, sorry, my bad,
Roberto replied.
There was a slight pause before Captain Bolt answered.
Brooklyn?
Captain, don’t you ever do that again. I thought you were a goner,
Brooke said.
No need to worry about me Brooklyn. I told you, when I was undercover, I had to go through some... difficult situations. Facing that thug was nothing,
Captain Bolt replied.
That wasn’t just some thug Captain. Big Mack is a pretty strong guy,
Brooke informed.
What? What does fast food have to do with this?
Captain Bolt asked, his voice sounding confused.
It’s Big Mack, with a ‘k’ at the end. That’s his name.
That’s... That’s ridiculous,
Captain Bolt said.
Look, Captain, I don’t think-
There was a knock on the door and Brooke immediately froze up. She turned and stared at the door, wondering who it was this time. There was another loud knock, much louder this time.
Yo, Queen Bee!
A familiar voice yelled.
Shit. It’s Mack. Look, I’m going to have to hide this thing somewhere. These guys have metal detectors and all kinds of shit to stop any moles,
Brooke informed.
"All right. This isn’t a phone, it’s an active wire. You need to
