When God Took Grandma Home

About this ebook
About the heartache of drug addiction and the enemy who destroys children through addiction, this is an excellent read which explains why God allows righteous anger, why we should pray for those in eternity and offers an incredible experience of faith for Matt and Sarah about why God even allows such heartache to occur.

From Dallas, Texas:
I’ve just read one of the most inspiring books I have read in a long time! The story and characters reveal real life situations in a remarkable and inviting form. I am certain that such a riveting story can also serve as an effective supportive tool for pastoral and mental health counselors. Ms. Glowacki described the stages of grief and God’s comforting plan in an extraordinary way and through characters that really grab the heart. She is an author I expect to see on the bestseller list very soon and for many years to come. I look forward to the next books in her wonderful, inspiring series. A pleasure to read, a masterful idea, When God Took Grandma Home by Helen Gumienny Glowacki is filled with the most beautiful insight into God’s plan for us!

From Port St. Lucie, Florida:
When Grandma Chased The Spirits: One Star . . . Star of Bethlehem . . . Rating! Helen Gumienny Glowacki’s novel, When Grandma Chased the Spirits, serves the reader in a similar manner as the Star of Bethlehem served earlier seekers . . . . it leads the reader to a beautiful spiritual experience. It shows us the gifts God offers that leads us to inner peace and understanding. Helen’s work is so special that I believe it will become a shining navigational tool for many who search for understandingjust as the Star of Bethlehem once served as a navigational tool for those who searched for the Christ child. Helen Gumienny Glowacki has, with extraordinary skill, created characters who express their love for others in a beautiful way and have the desire to go the extra mile to help those struggling with doubt and those who have been misguided. Through the manuscripts and journals created by grandma
and discovered by the various characters in Helen’s stories, one can actually see into the caring nature and loving heart of the author. Her stories eloquently reveal her love for God and her diligent search for truth. Five star rating? This work is worthy of more . . . the one star rating mentioned above . . . . The single Star of Bethlehem rating. God bless you GiGi,
and thank you for sharing your magnificent gift with us.

From Odenton, Maryland:
As a counselor to many who struggle with challenging circumstances in their lives, I found When God Broke Grandma’s Heart an inspirational story of hope. Despite cruelty and betrayal from those she trusted and the multiple adversities Grandma endured, she was able to find strength and understanding through her faith in and love of God. Helen Gumienny Glowacki beautifully portrays the phases that individuals move through and the transformation that can occur when one is able to let go of negative events in their past and strive toward the understanding that regardless of how unjust, none of the pain was for naught.

I am the wife of a retired minister. Many times during my husband’s ministry, I was aware of a parishioner living through a difficult circumstance, but because of my husband’s responsibilities to provide assistance and counseling, I was not always able to help in the matter. Helen Gumienny Glowacki’s The Grandma Series are a wonderful way to provide help and support to someone in need when other avenues of communication are closed. These books are inspiring, uplifting, educational, and heartwarming. Every story ends with a beautiful example of how God explains our pain, renews our hope, shows us the way out of our situation, and creates a miracle for our lives. I love this series.

From Brookfield, Wisconsin:
Wow! I’ve just finished reading the third book in this series of wonderful novels and can’t find words great enough to describe them. At a time when there are so many troubles in the world and so many people who suffer, these books are a real eye opener about God’s plan of salvation and why bad things happen to good people. They remind me of Jim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins’s Left Behind series. These books are a MUST READ!

Grandma’s Little Book of Poetry: The Story of God’s Plan of Salvation is a wonderful book about the successes and failures of real life and the story of the Good News of God’s love for us. All of Helen’s novels are wonderful to read, but more importantly, they are a balm for the soul and an education to the seeker.
—Dr. Walter Forman
From Boca Raton, Florida:
To Ms. Glowacki, author of The Grandma Series: So grateful to have found your books. I think it is refreshing to find a Christian author who sees the difference between religion and spirituality AND that the two can be, and should be, used in the same sentence.
—Luke Jansen, senior vice president, Medical Connections From Jupiter, Florida:
I have just finished reading AbidingFaith, Hidden Treasure and it was so interesting that I hated to put it down and couldn’t wait to pick it up again. I have read all of Helen’s books and am amazed how she can prove every point the characters make, support every adventure they undertake, and show what they should do in every circumstance through God’s words. I am 90 years of age and have been very depressed from losing loved ones and from life changing events and Helen’s books have really helped me to use God’s help through scripture, prayer and belief.
—Sue Day
From Palm City, Florida:
Abiding Faith, Hidden Treasure - what do these four words have in common? To begin with, the title of this book piques one’s curiosity, and a sense of searching begins with the hope that the answer will unfold within each page. As we meet the many characters, we develop a close empathy with them and as one situation is resolved a new issue arises. Some of the situations are troublesome, filled with raw emotion, others a battle between scientific knowledge and the awakening of spiritual knowledge. Still others are easily resolved by rulings of the heart. Ms. Glowacki has a skillful gift for details and for vivid descriptions of events. They are so brilliant that the reader feels that they are part of the moment. Throughout the novel it becomes clear that each difficulty leads to the discovery that God’s hand is working and providing the characters with the understanding that nothing happens that is not planned by Him. Does one find the Hidden Treasure
? - each reader will answer that for themselves. Abiding Faith, Hidden Treasure is a mosaic of God’s plan of Salvation.

These novels are dedicated to those who have shaped lives by their examples of faith, integrity, and nobility. Despite the difficult challenges they may have faced, their faith stood firm, and through their life choices these precious teachers demonstrated how much God loves us, how to love Him back, and that love is so powerful it can even bridge the chasm of death.

About The Author
Note to the Reader
The King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, which is public domain in the United States, is used throughout the books written by Helen Gumienny Glowacki. For easier reading and less usage of the old world language while remaining true to the original text, the author recommends the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible for further study.

This book contains a Scriptural Index. Instead of assembling this index according to the Chicago Manual of Style, I have put it together in a format I believe might be more useful to the reader. I have chosen key words that may highlight the reader’s specific concern or interest and under those words I have listed the scriptures that address those concerns. I believe that this index style may also better support a teaching program based on this book. I would love to hear your suggestions for making these scriptures easy to find and understand.

Message from the Author
The books in this series of novels are a two-fold challenge. To create a compelling and uplifting story the reader will enjoy is, of course, one challenge. But the more difficult challenge is to open the reader’s heart to the wondrous miracle of words written thousands of years ago that remain the solution to and protection from today’s heartaches. It is for this reason that my novels examine the various and heartbreaking challenges of life many of us face and attempt to demonstrate how God’s words help us understand why these heartaches occur.
Everyone has experienced heartache at one time or another. And it is my hope is that those who read my stories will know they are not alone in their suffering. Neither are they alone in the emotion their suffering produces nor in its potential to leave a long term effect on them. It is my hope that through these stories and what the characters of the stories learn, those who read these novels will understand who orchestrates our heartache and why. It is my hope to demonstrate how time and time again, God shows us that He can turn the most horrible circumstance into the most beautiful.
My first novel, When God Broke Grandma’s Heart, is a story about a grandmother who is nearly broken by marital abuse and the vicious cruelty of a jealous sibling. The reader travels with the heroine through the pain of these betrayals to the recognition of why she has these experiences, what she learns from them, and how she triumphs over them. As Grandma relates her story through her granddaughter, the granddaughter is drawn into a deeper understanding of life and how the struggles life brings can strengthen values and change lives for the better. The granddaughter, Sarah finds her grandmother’s story so touching and remarkable that she is forever influenced by it and decides that she too will use the same resources to find her answers and to thwart her enemy and determines to carry on her grandmother’s legacy of faith.
This second novel delves into the life of the granddaughter and her fiance, revealing how Grandma’s legacy of faith helps them understand why life is unfair and why they encounter so much heartache. As they question the injustices they witness and wonder what they can do to help themselves and others, they look back on Grandma’s story and through her example are led to the answers they seek. This novel, When God Took Grandma Home, focuses on the difficulties that Sarah and Matt encounter in coping with the loss of two loved ones, Sarah’s grandmother and Matt’s brother, Paul. It is also a story that touches on the tragic use of illicit drugs, how and why the unseen enemy uses them to trap our children, and what God can do with this tragedy. It beautifully explains how God can turn the greatest heartache into the most magnificent triumph, even in eternity.
As I write these novels, I am always reminded that when we were children, we were told tales of magic wands and fairy godmothers, of handsome princes in shining armour, of damsels in distress, and miraculous rescues. We believed these tales that promised us that we would live happily ever after. We still believe that the prince’s kiss or fairy godmother’s wand will bring a wonderful relief from the heartache in our lives, and we still hope for and believe in the promise of justice.
Our hope is so strong that even after our transition from children to adults we long for the special magic that will make injustice disappear. With no prince or fairy godmother to provide that magic, we often ask God to do this. We know that God has the power to do so. But when we think He is not helping, at least not in the time frame or manner we had in mind, we blame Him for our troubles. We may even blame God for a very long time. But it is not God who is the author of injustice or our enemy. He is our Comforter who willingly provides the help we need.
However, we do have an enemy who brings injustice into our lives. He is sly and cunning, dangerous, insistent, and powerful. He attacks so subtly we don’t realize he is orchestrating our challenges, is the instigator of our pain. Our enemy attacks selectively and with specific motive. Yet most of us have no idea what this enemy does or why he does it. We have little understanding of his malevolency, his power or his goal or that he is in a fight for his life.
We understand that when an enemy plans to attack us, we must arm ourselves as best we can to ward off that attack. Therefore it is good to know the enemy. Sadly, we all have an enemy who most of us don’t know. And when we don’t recognize the enemy, when we don’t know how, why, or when he will attack we are easily trapped by the circumstances he creates and are left defenseless. It is because of the terrible harm this enemy brings that I decided to write these novels and share with you what I have learned of the timely warnings God gives to protect us.
Our world is a difficult place for adults to navigate, and for children it is wrought with unseen dangers of such magnitude that we should all be afraid. We believe that children should not vote, drink, marry, become parents, or live on their own until the age of eighteen (or more) because they are not yet armed with the wisdom to do so. We even take steps to teach them the responsibilities of making such a choice at a young age, even attempt to create laws to prevent our children from pursuing these activities. But we cannot pass a law to prevent them from becoming a captive of our enemy. Sadly few adults teach their children about this enemy. This is because so many parents do not understand this enemy themselves, and have not learned how to avoid the agony of what this enemy wants to bring them. Nor do they understand that their agony could be for all eternity.
In a time when many troubles exist and many lives break down, we need to recognize that something has gone terribly awry in our society and we should be asking why this is occurring, and what we should do. Thus, in this novel about the life of an innocent boy whose trust is betrayed by an adult who callously brings him great harm, I have tried to address these questions. When this young man turns to God for help, God in His infinite kindness and wisdom, steps in and turns his terrible tragedy into a triumph over the enemy, and does it not only for the boy, but also for untold thousands of anguished other souls as well. Through what God creates from this boy’s tragedy we can learn how God assures our ability to reach the goal of our faith despite our outer circumstances and does so not only for us but also for those who have died in their sins.
As we move closer to the ultimate goal of our faith, the First Resurrection, Satan does all he can to prevent this great day from occurring. He knows his end will come when God obtains the number of souls He is preparing for that day and this enemy works to prevent God from gathering the number of souls He longs for. Our children and grandchildren are many of those who make up these final numbers and thus they become a target of utmost importance. If we do not arm our children with the protection
God provides and make them aware of how dangerous an adversary we all have, they may fall to this enemy. Then, we will have contributed, though possibly unknowingly, to their fall, delaying that day that will bring an end to this era of evil. Once this day has come, grace as we now know it, will no longer be available.
Thus, it is vital that we know our enemy, know how he works and why, what he intends for our children and for us. Once we become aware of this, we will be able to recognize how necessary it is to arm ourselves with the knowledge God offers to face this battle. This enemy is real. He has a plan and a single minded motive behind what he does. It may be difficult to understand, but we must understand if we want the fullest protection God is so willing to provide for us.
God can miraculously turn any tragedy into something wondrous and bring from it an immense and far-reaching blessing. When we believe life is unjust, God is working to make it meaningful. Whether we think some are taken home too young, or others unjustly live under tragic circumstances, we still have to trust God and believe that He has an all encompassing plan that in time will make everything right. As we learn God’s words, we also learn that sometimes God chooses to give us the gift of strength rather than removing our burden. This is because He can see its far greater value and how it might serve to put aside our Adam-like nature and create of us a child of God and the bride of His Son.
Someday we will fully understand why God does what He does and then we will wish we cheered His every decision no matter how difficult it seemed at the time. Again, the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people is one that our enemy loves to use to entice us to believe that our troubles are God’s fault. In truth, the enemy tries to destroy those who love God in order to delay his own inevitable damnation.
Thus, in all my novels I endeavor to tell a story that will touch your heart and draw you into knowing and loving the characters, while introducing you to the real culprit of these stories and of our lives. I hope I can show you why our world will only get worse and why this confirms that we are closer to the most beautiful day we will ever experience. I want you to see that God is our champion . . . . that He is fighting to prevent our enemy from capturing our soul.
Despite the descriptions of painful and seemingly senseless pain and loss, my novels also include many light moments of fun, interaction and discovery. They provide wonderful examples of stedfast love between friends and neighbors, brothers and sisters and adults and children. My novels describe the memories this group of friends and family create and share and the wonderful legacy of faith Grandma gave them that sustains and strengthens them in their time of sorrow. The stories are funny in parts, touching in others.
This novel in particular brings forth a discovery of unacknowledged, yet justified anger and how anger can be emotionally healthy if we pull it from the subconscious so it can be properly understood and then resolved. This novel also provides a unique way to look at clocks and listen for the silence before listening to their sounds. It is a story of how the characters create silly games that produce precious memories and love in their hearts, of natural remedies, of laughter, and of an exciting exploration of the mysteries in the Bible. It is the story of a young man and a young woman with a fierce determination to understand what God wants them to do about their circumstances.
I pray that this story and all my stories will touch your heart and open your understanding. Sharing that understanding with others will touch the heart of God. God tells us in Malachi 3:17: And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them,, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him,. May God bless you and keep you always and may He grant you the wonder of His word so that you too will become one of His precious jewels.
