    Chapter One- Good as Dead

The cold air suddenly hit me; as the misty rain covered over the soil. This town used to be safe; people would enjoy walking under the full moon just like the one tonight. It was in the middle of September, well a long weekend for most of us; in a few weeks I had to get rearward to my college school for one day,  the final exam, I had to get one thing that I could show my teachers.

I had made my final night at a Bar and Grill called Jennifer’s Palace.

My sight wasn’t bothering me; though I couldn’t visualize the next house just yet. I hated this September weather! The fog was more or less the cause of my sight being the way it was.

Joe –the cook- had asked me if I wanted a ride home. Of course I said no, twice. I wasn’t scared. Why should I be so afraid?

I had my hood covering my long red hair; I took in the sweet scent of the September’s rain, stopping once I saw a newspaper lying on the paving.

The headline reads; Unknown Murderer still around!

I knew who he was, though I hated him ever since he tried killing me several times when I was younger... would you expect from an older brother... well foster brother.

He recognizes me too well, but he’s killing off redheads.

Dean was a vampire who hated my guts; couldn’t say that he’s my favorite foster brother either.

Considerably, I’ll explain everything in time.

I tried forcing my 20th year old body to walk more through the rainwater as it started to pelt down.

I continued to walk past an older looking building; until I saw about five figures walking out to surround me.

Shit! I thought as I stopped.

I think I was their next victim; or was I?

Hey baby, why don’t you come and hang out with us? I heard one asked as he reached for my sleeve.

He delivered a tight grip; pulling me closer toward him as the surface of the ground became slippery.

No thanks! I’m late for something! I remarked as I jerked my arm back from him.

Backing up until I was seized from rear; an even harsher grip appeared on my weaponry.

    I fought to come free.

You truly need to quieten down! The guy holding me saying as he fastened his hold just about me.

And you genuinely need to allow me go! I said as calmly, some humans really should discover how to listen (even when it might actually pull through their lives!)

Ok, so like I said in the first place; my foster brother (well, I don’t think of him as one) Dean was a vampire; I was merely telling you part of my lifetime.

    I sighed as they laughed.

I was directed to fend for myself by five very old vampires; and out of the corner of my eye; I caught view of something –more like soul- from the phantasms.

Here they are watching the inauguration.

See guys, you really should let me go! I said, recognizing that this wouldn’t end well for them.

I was thrown hard against the brick wall from behind me, inducing me to reach my head severely.

I grew up; slowly, waiting upward on the rooftop where the five vampires watched me.

I mainly looked straight at the one who called himself Sebastian.

I looked back as the primary leader in front of me; turned around only to endanger the other four.

This one is mine! He said harshly. I glared at him the moment he said ‘this one’.

When he looked back at me; I kicked my right leg up to his head; kicking him hard, watching as he moved backwards and then toward me.

Get the fuck off of me! I yelled the moment he grabbed me; spinning around my right leg, kicking him off of me.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you shitheads! I said then took off running. I stopped when they surrounded me.

    Damn it all.

I looked all around me; backing up until I hit that brick wall.

Smiling as I ran doing cartwheels down the runway the five drunks allowed me.

Whoa! One said as I flipped past him; I ran the moment I landed on my feet, past the lamp post and toward the large bridge. My chest started hurting as I engaged in more of that frigid air; I gave up when I went to the bridge opening.

I faced out toward the never ending sea of water the moment I held back to take a breather.

When I turned around; I noticed the five guys from before had followed me. The main one -that stood in front of me- grabbed me by my neck, then slowly started to squeeze slowly getting closer.

Please, Don’t... I said faintly as I panted for air. I felt my body being thrown backwards off the position of the bridgework.

‘Am I going to die?’ I thought as I fell down toward the calm salty water.

I opened my mouth, trying to breathe in more air, until the feel of the hard surface of the water caused my mouth and eyes to close.  Reopening my eyes, I discovered that the water had filled my shoes so that they would draw me to the bed of the sea; I slowly floated up toward the open with only energy and aviation! I felt my body shake the instant I felt my right arm shot.

Oh please don't tell me that! At one time I got it to the surface, I used my good arm and my legs to float toward the shore. I wasn’t even half way when my energy disappeared, causing me to pass in.

Slowly closing my eyes; finally allowing my body to go down deep into the water down towards the black behind.

I envisioned me as a young little young woman once more. Getting pushed around in the adoption center I was at. My former parents had died a few months before my ninth birthday, and the boys were meaner than hell. I was sitting against that old brick wall (alone), when two boys walked up toward me.

David; an 11 yr-old and Aaron; a 12 yr old; both total losers!ok at the little rag girl!" David had said to Aaron, pointing mainly at me.

She’s so ugly and weird. It’s no wonder why she’s not wanted! Aaron said, joining in.

David picked up a handful of rocks, throwing them one by one at me.

Leave me alone! I whispered as I coiled up into a glob.

Hey the ugly duckling said something!  Aaron said laughing.

I was actually growing exhausted of their bullying. I got up, then ran over toward the trees. I rose up like a monkey, onto the branches.

Leaning against the bark of the tree, when Mrs. Rosy and an unfamiliar looking man walked toward me then stopped, causing me to look down at them.

My dream ended there when I felt a couple of hands tugging at my body up. Pulling me back to the surface, I was in someone’s arms. My eyes still shut, I tried his heart rhythm. The way the beat was, sounded so familiar, Sebastian? My older (way older) brother; well we weren’t really related. The solitary affair was that I was sort of in love with him, but I actually didn’t want to destroy the relationship he and I had, I coughed up the water that was being entertained in my pharynx. Spitting it all over my cold already wet body, the moment I felt my body being laid onto the background, I slowly opened my eyes. I saw Sebastian smiling down at me.

There you are, I ‘m here little one! Sebastian’s sweet voice spoke like a piano lullaby, Rest now my sweet!

I closed my eyes once again dreaming of my past once more.

    * * * *

Alexandria, will you please come down here? Mrs. Rosy asked me; even she believed I was weird.

I jumped down in my ragged dress (which I hated).

Alexandria this is Chad Johnson, Mr. Johnson this is Alexandria. Mrs. Ro said again, laughing. I’d wish that she would can it. Her laughing was like listening to hogs being tortured to death.

Thank you, Mrs. Rosy! He said kindly, smiling at me, after a quick bow to me.

    Was he for real?

Alexandria, are you ready? he’d asked me softly.

For what, where am I going? I’d replied back as he reached out his hand.

To go home, I just adopted you Alexandria! He said sweetly, his hand still waiting for mine. I looked up into his golden brown eyes to see that for once, I didn’t have to be judged. I mean out of all the children here. He picked me. I smiled as I placed my small hand into his.

I guess. I enunciated in my soft voice, as we took the air toward his deep black Ferrari.

He opened the passenger door for me and I slowly climbed in, smiling as he buckled me up with the seat belt. I watched as he closed the door and then made his way toward the driver side. He climbed in then closed his door. Starting up the Ferrari, I jumped once I heard it purr. I rode with him until we reached what appeared to be a palace. It was beautiful, made of marble and gemstone.

We pulled into the driveway just as darkness fell.

Don’t be scared Alexandria! Chad whispered as he parked his automobile.

Getting out, he walked over to my door.

I unbuckled then slowly opened my door.

This was my home immediately, I realized as I shut the doorway behind me. I slowly walked behind Chad as he guided me into that marvelous two story Manson.

Victoria (the mother) smiled down at me, yielding me a great squeeze.

My first little female child, She said sweetly, I’m Victoria, You must be Alexandria. Welcome. The boys were somewhere else.  Tell me, do you have a nice voice? We’ll discover later, subsequently you have settled in.

Wow, she must have genuinely wanted a female child, very seriously.

Alexandria, this way sweetheart, let’s go get you cleaned up! Chad spoke motioning me up the flight of stairs, toward a fresh room, my new room.

    I walked toward the bed.

You sent for us father? the sweetest voice, I turned to see two senior guys.

Sebastian, Dean. This is Alexandria. Your new little sister, treat her well. Chad said then disappeared from the room.

Gross, she smells like trash! the one known as Dean said then left the room.

    I looked down,
