a young lion tamer in training ...

He was half man, half lion.

He would not give his soul to her …

THE POEM – WHEN A FOX TAMES A LION.

She stands, a red fox, a whip in hand

The lion stares her down.

But when he roars at her,

She drops the whip and runs.

One cannot train a lion if one runs from the lion.

He'll grow bored; he'll wander off,

and maybe find another tamer.

She stands, the red fox again, whip in hand

This time she will stand her ground.

She loves him dearly,

But then he roars again, and she's gone. Running.

She cannot train the lion,

when she runs from the lion.

He grows tired, he gets frustrated,

and he wanders off.

She stands again, the red fox, firm this time

Stoic and bold.

The lion roars and roars and roars.

She cries and she lets him see it,

And she stands firm.

He sees her cry and does not roar again.

He expects her to run again.

But she drops the whip to the ground

She walks up to the lion

She wraps her arms around him

And she loves him.

Only then does he open his heart to her

... and begins to purr to her softly.
