CHAPTER 1 – WHAT IS THE KAMA SUTRA?

The Kama Sutra has been known for many years to be the oldest and most accurate book about sensual living. Originally compiled in the third century, it was actually written by a celibate monk, Vātsyāyana!

Scholars have long studied the Kama Sutra, which, literally translated, means a treatise about pleasure. Although best known for its list of sexual positions, the book also offers insight on living a good life. The text applies to men and women both, but most directions are addressed to the female, and I will follow that lead in this book.

Happiness is Key

The main point of the Kama Sutra is that if you want to be happy in a union, you and your partner should both be well-versed in pleasuring each other, both cerebrally and carnally.

The Kama Sutra contains very detailed advice on what men have to do in order to win over women, and what women have to do to win over men. The book advises whether you should consider childhood friends as partners, or fellow students on life’s journey.
